Hairstyles And Facial Features
Without a doubt, a hairstyle is the most important changeable feature we women have. So, let me help you find that perfect hairstyle. A hairstyle that will flatter the shape of your face, and have a friend taking notice and commenting on your new look.
Today's woman is actually very fortunate, we live in a time when no one hairstyle is considered the "fashion of the day". Hairstyles today run the gamut of possibility. The hairdo's that fills our magazine pages and the rules that once dictated our way of thinking about hairstyles have become increasingly passe. We no longer consider it an unshakable truth that in order to appear beautiful, you must have a perfect oval shaped face. It's no longer an indisputable error for a woman with a long face to wear long hair. Furthermore, a woman with strong features may choose a hairstyle to bring out those strong characters, not hide them. Movies are filled with beautiful women that accentuate their originality, rather than minimize it. In fact, the most highly paid models are hired to sell fabulously priced fashions because of their somewhat offbeat looks.
The world had grown so much smaller in these last decade and has made us very conscious of our once foreign neighbors. This new found sophistication has broadened our views on what is beautiful. We no longer laugh at appearance differences or think them peculiar. We can see loveliness in a Chinese woman, Indian woman, and an African woman. We have come to appreciate all unique brands of beauty. We now borrow hairstyles from every corner of the world. Moreover, yes at the same time much of the world has in some degree borrowed American hairstyles. However, while we in the U.S.A. continue to want our hairdos to be modern in the sense that they fit in with a quick and busy lifestyle. At the same time, we love hairstyles that fit our personalities. Some women lean toward edgy hairstyles, while others love a classic look or a romantic Hairdo.
Again without a doubt, a hairstyle is the most changeable feature we have. A hairstyle not only works to make a face more attractive but can actually add to make one look taller or shorter. A hairstyle can call attention to a swan-like neck or distract the eye from a too-short neck. The right hairstyle can add length to the waist, and also balance narrow shoulders. So let's explore how one goes about getting a perfect hairstyle.
Before Choosing A New Hairstyle Get To Know Your Facial Shape
Take a Photo, then study that photo to determine the shape of your face. Keep an open mind, ask a friend to give an opinion.
Get to know the shape of your face. A good way to do this is to take a photo head-on. Study it well. Is your face narrow, heart-shaped, square, oval? Is your hairstyle dragging your narrow face down, making it appear thinner, and more narrow? Do you have a large forehead? Could wispy bangs be the answer? Is your face heart shaped? Perhaps you should consider long layers at the sides to add body, and frame your heart-shaped face? You get it. Study the photo, if you are unhappy with how your hairstyle looks, you need to consider changing your style.
Sometimes what you see will not be objective. So, ask a few friends the question, "what shape is my face"? Before you find the hairstyle that is ideal for you, you may have to try ten that isn't. Begin experimenting at once and don't let your husband or friends intimidate you. Most people even those we love, and those that love us, are quick to applaud our successes. However, do not as often applaud our courage to try something new. Still, I think we learn as much from our failure as from our successes.
The Bob And The Heartshaped Face
The Bob is such a classic hairstyle and is one hairstyle that will suit the most facial shape. Note that Victoria Beckham has a sweet heart-shaped face. The heart shaped face can get away with almost hairstyle.
Bob It Like Beckham!
Bob It Like Beckham!
Victoria Beckham seems to always choose a Bob hairstyle, whether it was a short version or a longer version, she frequently chooses a Bob. She recently opted to cut off her long hair and is now looking cuter than cute in a sleek Bob. Her new hairstyle has been dubbed a "Pob". This cute title stands for Posh's Bob - Pob. Vic Beckham's Pob is guaranteed to become the hottest new hairstyle this spring. So if you are looking for an easy, stylish, cute, popular, trendy new hairstyle - opt for to "Bob it like Beckham."
Short Messy Bob
This Short messy Bob is a great choice for women that love to make a bit of a statement, yet do it with an easy-care hairstyle. The short Bob can be worn by most. Although the oval or heart-shaped face wears it best.
Helen Mirren's Hair Is Fit For A Queen
With a heart shape face "Helen Mirren" can wear almost any hairstyles, and wear it well. In the photo, you can see she looks beautiful in a modified bob hairstyle. The look is soft, feminine, and really softens her beautiful strong features. The bob is a hairstyle that can be tweaked to suit many facial shapes and looks great on women of all ages.
Women that have heart-shaped faces are very lucky in this respect. The most complimentary hairdo for a heart-shaped face is to have the hair full at the jawline, with a center or slightly off-center part, with a slanted bang. As you can see, Helen knows her facial shape well and knows how to plays it up.
Combination Oblong And Oval
The Oblong - Shaped Face
The Oblong Face
Farrah's facial shape is a combined oblong/oval. The hairstyle that made her a trendsetter was right on for a girl with an oblong/square face. The Farrah hairstyle kept the hair closes at the top of the head, and added fullness at the sides. Fringe bangs added softness at the forehead.
Don't Let Your Hairstyle Age You - Are you considering a hairstyle change? Try to keep up with the latest in trends. Not a trendy kind of girl? Why not tweak a trendy hairstyle to suit the shape of your face and personality. Better yet, keep to the simple classic cuts, as did Audrey Hepburn throughout her life. Don't ever let your hairstyle scream, I am stuck in the 1980s.
Jackie Had A Square - Shaped Face
The Square - Face
Jackie was one that knew how to choose a hairstyle that best compliments her square facial shape. Note her low forehead, Jackie chose to wear her hair back with height at the top, keeping fullness at the sides, chin, and the temples. These are good rules that work to compliment a square facial shape.
The Oval - Shaped Face
Here Are Some Tips On How To Get The Perfect Hairstyle For Your Facial Shape ...
The oval face: The woman with the oval shape face can wear any style. The exception, If one has a large nose, it is a must to wear fluffier bangs, and make sure never to center part they do. If you have a very small nose, wear fewer shorter bangs. Sharon Stone's "Basic Instincts" kicked in when it comes to flattering her oval shaped face. She is one of the lucky ones that can support almost any hairstyle, and pull it off.
Pear - Shaped Face
The pear-shaped face is narrow at the forehead, and wide at the jaw and chin line. The style that compliments a pear-shaped face, partially cover the forehead, and keep the style slightly full and high.
Diamond - Shaped Face
The face that is narrow at the forehead and chin, and wide through the cheekbones is diamond shaped. For this face shape, a bit of height on top, and fullness across the forehead. If you choose a longer hairstyle. Keep the height at the top, and fullness at across the forehead, with hair close to the head at the sides or behind the ears, can flare out below the chin. Keep the hair close to the cheekbones.
Heart - Shaped Face
The heart-shaped face is wide at the forehead and narrow at the chin. This shaped face will, as a rule, look good with most any hairstyle, as the oval-shaped face. The most complimentary do- fullness at the jaw, with a center or slightly off-center part, with slanted bangs.
Time To Consider What's On Trend, And If You Want A Trendy Style Or A Classic Hairstyle?
You may come up with your perfect hairstyle. Tweak a trendy style to suit your facial shape ...
It's smart to keep up with hairstyle trends. A new trendy hairstyle can be tweaked to suit your facial shaped and could provide you with the perfect hairstyle.
Soft, wavy, medium to long lengths. Hair that moves and looks natural. What's hot for formal dress, pulling the hair back into a cascade Grecian look, again the soft waves that frame the face. Believe it or not, buns are back as well as the very classic ponytail.
Sharon Stone - Short, Simple And Sexy ...
Short Hair - Should I or Shouldn't I ?
Have you had to listen to a girlfriend cry because of a botched short cut? Do you look at your Mom, and wonder, why does she still have the same shortcut she had when you started kindergarten? Do you have flashbacks of Lady Di's do?
On the other hand, does your busy lifestyle leave you wishing your hair was short and easy. Do you think you have just the right facial shape to sport a shortcut? Perhaps deep down you love short hair?
First, before you go to your stylist of choice, do your homework. Check out the latest short hairstyles. Pick one that will compliment your facial shape. There are some great short hairstyles out there. Be armed with a picture of the style you want. Never, I mean never just ask for a short hairstyle without a good picture.
A hairstyle should denote your lifestyle and personality - not your age.

I wish there were more samples of hair products we could get and try first. On another point, I tried growing my hair for about a year but ended up getting it cut short again - the climate and your lifestyle are just as important as face shape and age appropriate styles when deciding on how to wear your hair.

Short hair or not... very difficult question! If one is just lazy about it I don't recommend it! Long hair looks best on girls, most men agree. There are plenty of places where I would be proven wrong, but my vote goes to long hair. Good article :)

Hm! I had no idea about my hair's keratin. I always wondered what the deal was when commercials would claim to repair your hair and stuff. I'd be like, "But... it's dead cells.... how?" Oh! Can improve things with the keratin, I guess.
I have trouble figuring out what to do with my hair. At the moment it's super short. It's been shorter, but I have so much trouble deciding what I want for it!

It's great to read a lens like this though to help those of us that really don't want to wear another hairstyle disaster - thank you.
