Moods of Clouds - Poem [In Response to Brenda Arledge's Week 30 Word Prompt 'Clouds']

Shades of Clouds

Shades of Clouds

About the Poems

Thanks to Brenda's Week 30 prompt on 'clouds' and manatita's kind nudge, I sat down to write these Haiku. Well, technically these are not Haiku because I didn't follow the 5-7-5 pattern. Instead, I made up a pattern of 3-7-3, which seemed to better suit the topic.

And now, the lines. As always, Haiku is about imagination, so explanations aren't necessary. Always open to interpretation.

The Poem

Unread mail

Flies from the distant heavens

Riding clouds

Darkest kiss

Tremors of blue scare the sky

Dancing clouds

***

Boubou beaks

A bite of cotton candy

Autumn clouds

Longing for tears in the skies

As usual I'm impressed with my favorite analyst and dear friend, Li Jen. I was waiting for someone to make that technology connection, and you've done it lol. All the others are also perfectly analysed. Hope you're well.

Hi Rinita. I like how your poems make real sense. You have associated unread mail and clouds together and it reminds us of how technology stores stuff in the cloud haha. When the unread mails are floating on clouds, we feel safe because we can check whenever and wherever we are. Darkest kiss and tremors of blue paints the picture of lightning and stormy weather. The boubou is flying through cotton candy clouds. And the contrast between happy dewdrops and gloomy rain drops.

I love your interpretation of my first Haiku, Brenda. I'm glad you felt connected. Thanks a lot.

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on September 16, 2021:

Rinita

I'm happy to hear Manatita is nudging you along.

Your poems are written as Haikus in a 3-7-3 pattern.

Then you tell us Haiku is about imagination, so explanations aren't necessary. Always open to interpretation.

My favorite:

Riding clouds

I'll post a link in the word prompt article.

Hello Rinita!

Beautiful response to the word prompt, clouds. I liked how you defined them, as riding clouds, dancing clouds, autumn clouds, and lonely clouds. Yes, they can be of so many colours, and forms, and moods.

Well expressed, and well done! Thank you for sharing!

Thank you Misbah. You know how it's with poetry, if it flows it flows quickly, if it doesn't you can stare at the screen forever and nothing will happen.. haha. Happy to see you.

Excellent work, Rinita. I like how you changed the syllable count to 3-7-3 to suit the subject more. All the best.
