Marching Alone Into the Future
Set the Mood
Staring at my own reflection,
I'm looking back at me.
An infinite line of mirrors,
And eyes burning to be free.
Surrounded by a world of madness,
I'm lost in my own eyes.
No respite from the pools of blood,
That on the ground now dry.
Twisted lies of my own fate,
There is nothing set in stone.
Falsehoods told to me by me,
But only when I'm alone.
Memories haunt me here in silence,
I tear myself apart.
Regret does sow its inward violence,
But love will mend my heart.
I'm now here in my Spring of youth,
No need to dwell on the past.
Chase the sun over the horizon,
Let passion erupt with a blast.
The raindrops of sadness may sometimes fall,
On this journey into tomorrow.
But now shall soon be yesterday,
And that's where I leave my sorrow.
Pitter patter onto life's roof,
Won't let it turn to a gale.
Find rays of hope through dark clouds,
Use winds of conflict to set sail.
Look to the skies for my sunlight,
The darkness shall wash away.
I need no fairies nor happily ever afters,
When friendship guides my way.
So on I march with fervor by my side,
Majestic my love through every battle.
Get up and back on my fighting horse,
I'm a warrior in my own saddle.
Childhood is long, dead, and gone,
But my spirit is alight with fire.
Won't you come on my journey with me,
And fulfill our every desire?
Life Is Rough, but Buck Up!
It's been a while since I wrote my last poem, but I figured it was time to shake off the cobwebs. What better a way to do so than with Brenda Arledge's wonderful word prompts?
While writing this I was thinking of many of the things I've faced in life, the lessons I've learned about who you can and cannot depend on, and all the harsh realities you come to learn as you grow. If only we could love ourselves, love one another, then perhaps we could all have it easier. That isn't how life goes, though, is it?
If you ever need a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, or even just a listening ear, I'm here to provide. Should you wish to stand in the way of progress, to turn our smiles into frowns, well, prepare to get steamrolled by our love!
Thanks for reading!

"Beautiful" is high praise, indeed, Peggy! I'm afraid the true beauty lies in Brenda's dutiful care for the community and nursing its creative spirit; I thank you nonetheless!

Lorde is one of my favorite musical artists, if not my most favorite, solely for her lyrics and attitude. She is so full of herself, but in such a way that it makes me want to be full of everyone. I'm glad that everyone else felt this song was as perfect for this piece as I did, I worried that the contrast was going to be too much.
A welcome delight to have you in the comments section, and writing your own pieces for me to read again, Holley!
Thanks for reading!

A powerful piece - I can feel the emotion behind it and have to agree with Brenda about the flow. Love the song you chose to set the mood, too. I can relate to a lot of it... feels a bit like I'm reaching the "summer" point of my writing as the winter of it has lasted so long. Glad you're finding your muse again!

An impressive piece of poetry, Kyler. You certainly took Brenda’s wonderful word prompts and ran with them. Nice work.

Oof, I went through and tried to find the words I was missing but at least it was only two of them. Perhaps that is a sign I will need to write poems including those individually. I'm always missing out on other people's writings because they don't show up in my feed consistently, and it irritates me.
I'm happy to hear you enjoyed this, though, and I really enjoyed writing it! Always nice to have you compliment my work, as well, especially after not having written in so long.
Thanks for reading, Brenda!

I still don't see this one on the news feed.
I'm not sure why, since I can see a different article you wrote.

I love the video you chose to set the mood.
It definitely put me in a good mood and I was on my feet swaying to the tune with my hands held high.
I'm so glad you dusted off those cobwebs.
This is a superb piece of poetry.
I am quite amazed that your words included almost every word prompt from the beginning and it didn't take anything away from the poems meaning.
In fact, it made it stronger.
You are quite a talented writer.
Your poem shows us that your reflection knows you want to be free just by the look inside your eyes.
No matter what is going on around you, you are caught up in the tangled lies you weave.
In those moments of silence, regret eats away at your core.
But you keep moving forward not letting the past haunt you for too long as you chase another moment of passion.
There will be times of sadness, but you will leave your sorrow behind with yesterday.
There is always a new gateway knocking at the door of life for you to follow.
You move past the conflicts, looking towards the sunshine
knowing you don't need a happily ever after to survive.
You keep your passion lit as you move forward with determination to succeed.
Hoping you can find someone to help fullfill your every desire.
This is a great poem Kyler.
It describes the actions and feelings of a playboy at heart.
He doesn't need a happily ever after or fairies to have what he wants in life.
Sadness sometimes hits him, but he knows tomorrow will always come and give him another chance.
This one is Amazing!!
Did I miss this one earlier??
I will post a link in the word prompt article for mirror.
Do you want it posted on the other one's too???

You're too kind, Misbah, and give me far too much credit. Brenda is the one who made this all possible with her love and care for the community, inspiring us all to exercise our creative muscles. I'm just happy to be a part of it all!
Thank you for reading, it's always refreshing to hear from you; your positive energy is really resonating with me today!

Kyler, your writing is fantastic. In one poem, you have used too many word prompts. All at once. Wow! You have done a superb job with all of these word prompts. You've put a lot of effort into this piece. Inspiration would certainly return to you at some point, I already knew that and I'm glad you got it back. It's wonderful that you shared this poem with us. I have enjoyed reading it. I've read a lot of your work excluding the Gaming articles, but I can't comment on them because they are already on discover or on niches. I always leave comments on the one I find on HubPages. ( Don't you dare to consider anything as flattering) ;)
Finally, your thoughts are heartfelt. I admire how helpful and considerate you are. May God shower you with His Countless Blessings for all the good you do for others. Amen!
Blessings to you, dear friend
