2. Guess Mommy-To-Be’s Tummy Size

Supplies Needed: Yarn, scissors

Each guest will pull the yarn and cut it at the size they believe will fit exactly around the pregnant mommy’s tummy. When everyone is finished, use the yarn to measure the mommy’s tummy. Then compare all and the closest to the correct size wins.

3. How Many Baby Items Can You List?

Supplies Needed: Pad of paper, pen or pencil for each guest, clock or watch with a second hand

Distribute a piece of paper and a pen or pencil to each guest. Use a watch or clock as a timer. Give the guests five minutes to write down a list of as many baby items as they can think of. The winner is the one with the most proper baby items listed.

4. Ya Don’t Say “Baby”

Supplies Needed: Clothespins

Immediately upon arrival, give every guest two clothespins and have them attach the clothespins somewhere visible on the outside of their clothes. Tell them this is a game to see who can refrain from using the word “baby.”

If someone slips and speaks the word “baby” and someone else catches it, they get to take a clothespin from that person and put it on their clothes. The winner is the person with the most clothespins.

5. Baby Word Scramble Game

Supplies Needed: Copies of the game template (below), pens or pencils, game answers (below)

Give every guest a copy of the printed game and something to write with. Have them turn the game papers upside down until you are ready to begin. Each guest will try to unscramble the words. The person who has completed the game first with the most correct answers is the winner.

6. Play-Doh Baby

Supplies Needed: Play-Doh, small paper plates

Give each guest the same amount of Play-Doh and have them shape and mold it into a baby. Have them each place their Play-Doh baby on a small paper plate.

Do not let the mother-to-be see what creation belongs to whom because she will be the one that decides the winner.

7. Hot Dirty Diaper

Supplies Needed: Diaper, piece of chocolate, radio or cd player

Melt the piece of chocolate and place it inside the diaper. Similar to the game "hot potato", have guests form a circle and pass the dirty diaper around the circle while music is playing. The person in charge of the music will stop it at different times. The person holding the diaper when the music stops is out and leaves the circle. Continue again until you are down to one person who is the winner.

Baby Shower Games: Prize Ideas

It is not necessary to have prizes for the game winners but it does add to the excitement and better chance that everyone will participate. The prizes do not have to be expensive, just a small token to add to the fun. Here are some ideas:

  • Candle
  • Picture Frame
  • Gift Certificate
  • Stationery
  • Hand Lotion
  • Key Chain
  • Candy
  • Flowers/Plant
  • Knick Knack
  • Calendar

Baby Shower Games: Booby Prize Ideas

Instead of or in addition to awarding prizes to the game winners, you could also award “booby prizes” to the losers. Here are some fun ideas:

  • The loser is asked to eat an entire jar of baby food in front of everyone.
  • The loser must keep a pacifier in their mouth for a specific amount of time.
  • The loser will wear a baby bib for the remainder of the shower.
  • The loser will drink their beverage out of a baby bottle or sippy cup.

Have a great time!
