Perry Williams is an accomplished actor and an author that talks about his deep beliefs in Christ in his new book, Saving Christ: Starway Seven. Here he explores theological and spiritual concepts in a way that is easily digested by a reader. It is based on a true story and will have your heart melting as you turn page by page. I got the wonderful opportunity to interview him. He is as generous as he is creative. Here is how my interview with Perry William went:

Proud Author Williams Shows His Convictions

MV: Tell us a bit about your background.

PW: I used to act in sitcoms, even wrote one (Laverne & Shirley). Spent a year in Vietnam and graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in drama and a minor in music. Even though I continued to write I spent a considerable amount of time being a personal trainer at Gold’s Gym in Venice, California. I now live in Hayden, Idaho where I still continue to write.

MV: Can you tell us about your book, Saving Christ: Starway Seven?

PW: I wanted a new telling of the greatest story ever told so I created a new concept of sending a young woman back in time to be with the actual real Jesus during the last seven days of his life. Jesus and this young woman fall in love- just true love absolutely no sex. I wanted to show the human side of Jesus and less of the God side and the best way of doing this was through the eyes and love of a woman.

MV: Did you have to do a lot of research before writing the book?

PW: Absolutely!!! There is little really known about Jesus even though even now he is still the most known person on earth. I looked everywhere to find any information on Jesus and most of it was just here say with nothing to fully back it up. I spent six months trying to find anything about Jesus that would be useful and interesting for my book. I wanted Jesus to seem like a real person that you could relate too so I made him my friend and used that in writing the book. I wanted him to be believable and someone you would want to be a part of your life.

MV: Was your main character inspired by a real person?

Not one real person. She was inspired by a combination of many woman that I have met in my life. I took the best from everyone and made it into one.

PW: What was the hardest part about writing your book?

This may sound funny but nothing was hard about the book. I wrote the whole book all 114,000 words in under three months. The words just poured out of me. It was like the book was already written and I was just putting down the words. There are parts in the book that I don’t know how it came from me but it did. I am not overly religious but parts of my book certainly are.

MV: Is there a message you hope readers take away?

PW: Even after two thousand years the words and love of Jesus are still everywhere. Even now and in this time we need his love even more. No matter who you are or what you believe if you know Jesus you know love. And that simple and pure love is what we need now.

MV: Do you have any other books you would like to tell us about?

PW: I mostly write screenplays but my first novel, Pollen and the Ring of Harmony still has my heart. That book is about an alien with incredible powers sent to Earth to protect Mother Nature from us. Along with the sequel to Saving Christ called Saving the Messiah another book I am working on is called Saving Freedom about a group of time travelers sent back to stop slavery from happening in the United States. Think about that one.
