We used to sell at the farmer's market in Kansas. It finally got to be too much work when we reached 85 years of age.

anonymous on June 06, 2012:

Now that I'm retired I'll be shopping the Pendleton Farmers Market regularly. It was always a challenge to get there when i was working, but I made it occasionally. I'm looking forward to shopping on the square when it opens Thursday!

UKGhostwriter on June 04, 2012:

great stuff - support your local suppliers

Buying local is a huge help to farmers! Besides, you get quality food!

poutine on February 14, 2012:

It looks like a great place to buy local.

anticloud on September 06, 2011:

This looks like a great little place to stop into. I am not sure if I have ever been to Pendleton. My husband and I go on excursions all over South Carolina all the time. We'll have to make sure to put this on our list. Great lens. You have been blessed.

Wednesday-Elf from Savannah, Georgia on August 16, 2011:

Ah -- such wonderful memories. I truly miss the Pendleton Farmers Market since I moved away. Looks like Greg (with his assistants, Mo and Dorma) is doing a wonderful job running the 2011 Market. Saw many 'old' friends among the vendors, and enjoyed 'seeing' the Market through the eyes of your camera! Tell everyone I said 'Hi'. :-)

anonymous on June 28, 2011:

I would love to vsiit this market, almost have after looking through this great Lens, very well done!

anonymous on June 13, 2011:

I love going to farmers markets! I wish I lived close enough to visit this one :).

Deb Kingsbury from Flagstaff, Arizona on June 11, 2011:

I love farmers markets! We have two here in Flagstaff on different days of the week. That's because the one was so popular, they decided to have another on the other side of town (which is only a few miles away). And I used to be a seller, myself, back in Connecticut. I'm adding this one to my farmers market lens.

CelinaHamm on June 09, 2011:

Wow, this is a fantastic lens. Makes me wish I lived close by there. Great job and love the recipes.

dessertlover on June 09, 2011:

Wonderful lens! This was obviously very well put together and I can tell you spent a lot of time on it! I totally agree on buying local, it's fresh and it supports the community! Thank you for sharing this!

Eleonora Imazio on June 05, 2011:

That's the way! Buy local! Really nice and detailed lens. Congrats!

Nancy Tate Hellams (author) from Pendleton, SC on June 02, 2011:

@anonymous: I will see you there, Grace and looking forward to it. Maybe between Greg and I we can get some new pictures on this site.

The Pendleton Farmers Market is just one more reason to love Pendleton, South Carolina. Our family is looking forward to the season opening this afternoon.

ttsm197 on May 06, 2011:

wow great lens ... ohme great job thumbs up

ChrisDay LM on April 28, 2011:

Anything that might weaken the very unhealthy stranglehold that the massive retail chains have on our food supply gets a second look from me. I'm only sad that I'm the wrong side of the Atlantic to take an in-person look.

Lexy_Organic on January 16, 2011:

This is a great farmers market! I am so happy to see more and more great ones like this are popping up all over the US! I came across a fabulous website solely focused on farmers markets- they have hundreds of markets, vendors and supporters on it (not spamming just sharing) so definitely get on there too to promote the Pendleton Farmers Market: I think it's awesome that local farms, artisans and businesses have a place to share their wonderful products. Can't wait to visit this one soon!

Wednesday-Elf from Savannah, Georgia on September 04, 2010:

Ohme, this is such a delightfully well done story about the Pendleton Farmers Market, and so good of you to continue to promote the town of Pendleton, its history & happenings & celebrations. There is no one prouder of her community than Ohme aka Nancy Hellams, and you have been a One-Woman Welcome Wagon to Pendleton for me. All your Pendleton, SC lenses are worthy and deserving of a SquidAngel blessing, but I've chosen this Farmers Market one because it's the one I relate to the most, having been a vendor at the Market for two summers now, so I appreciate your Pendleton promotions more than most. ~~Blessed by your very own 'Pendleton' SquidAngel~~

anonymous on August 08, 2010:

I love spending the day at farmers markets, and visiting with friend and meeting new folks. The photos are just wonderful Nancy, you sure do bring this lens to life. ~ Thumbs-UP!

ElizabethJeanAl on May 16, 2010:

I love to visit the farmer's markets in the spring before my garden has started to produce. Fresh fruits and vegetables just taste better. My tomatoes will be ripe in another month or so but I'm not willing to wait that long for an awesome tomato sandwich. Thanks for sharing.

Wednesday-Elf from Savannah, Georgia on May 08, 2010:

Hi OhMe. My 'crocheted critters' and I are looking forward to the 2010 Pendleton Farmers Market. I had such a good time participating last summer as a vendor, and also 'shopping' at the market for myself. We have such a wonderful selection of items presented by our local farmers and talented artisans, and the Pendleton Village Green is such a gorgeous location for our Farmers Market.

SDB from Australia on March 18, 2010:

Farmers Markets are a great way to bring good quality produce to the community. Lovely lens.

Sherry Venegas from La Verne, CA on October 30, 2009:

MeOH MyOH, what a good time. And Thank you for blessing my Farmer's Mkt lens. I looked for an Angel's lens to thank you. Could not spot one. Two City's in my area do 10% fee for the crafter's because sometimes crafter sales may be down for the day. I love that for my $1 to $4.00 price ranges on my cards.

Cheryl Kohan from England on October 20, 2009:

This looks like an awesome Farmers' Market...those baked goods look just out of this world! We have a farmers' market in our little town but it's nothing like Pendleton's so you're pretty lucky, I'd say. Good job!

Spook LM on October 17, 2009:

As always, lovely. Blessed by an Angel.

Hi OhMe. Just saw your list for Pendleton Farmers Market vendors who have websites and have added mine. Thanks again for your nice feature on my crochet craft I take to the Market. I've been sharing this lens with a lot of people - family, friends, and fellow crafters who participate in THEIR hometown Farmers Markets. Everyone loves what you have done with this lens.

[in reply to GrowWear] Hi GrowWear - thanks so much for the compliment on my "crocheted critters". I'm glad I was wearing my Clemson T-Shirt the day Nancy came by to do a video on me and on our wonderful Pendleton Farmers Market. Since Pendleton is located only 4 miles from the Clemson University campus, we have a lot of Clemson fans in the area!

This is wonderful, Nancy! I almost had heart failure when I first tried to look at your lens. I was trying to clean up my computer yesterday and punched something that I thought had ruined everything because I could not get any pictures. The second time I punched on your lens and logged in and there were the pictures and interviews. You could be making lots of money as a tv interviewer. I will be at the market in a little while. Hope I can get some eggplant! This lens ought to go to everybody in the upstate....

The Pendleton Farmers Market is terrific and is held in one of the prettiest spots I've ever seen - our own beautiful Village Square in the heart of Pendleton, SC. Not only does it offer the residents of Pendleton and the surrounding area an opportunity to obtain seasonal fruits and vegetables, locally produced foods and handmade crafts, it has such a wonderful community spirit and the opportunity for neighbors to meet & greet weekly. This is my first year as a resident of Pendleton and as a vendor at the Market and it has been such fun getting to know my neighbors and fellow vendors. The vendors are a wonderful group of people who help each other set up and who really care about providing the best products available because we are proud of what we produce and we are dealing with our own neighbors. A special thank you to OhMe for showcasing my crochet craft and the hard work of all the talented vendors at the Pendleton Farmers Market in this delightful lens.
