Peep Show: Creating Art From Marshmallow Peeps

Welcome to the Peep Show!

Peeps aren't just for Easter anymore...or for eating. Artists are creating dioramas, sculptures, still lifes, movies and even prom dresses out of these popular marshmallow candies.

A few years ago, we started attending the annual Peep Show held by the Carroll County Arts Council in Westminster, MD. It's a fun exhibition of art created from all colors and varieties of Peeps. Who knew there were Peep bears?

Read on for more about the Peep Show including photos I took of some of the artwork.

About the Art

The Peep art on display ranged from class projects to deep artistic efforts. Many were themed after pop culture (movies, TV shows, foods, etc) with a Peep twist. While others took on more serious topics.

Yes, there was really a wearable prom dress made from Peeps. The artist even included pictures of herself or a model wearing the dress in her exhibit.

It was fun to see all the creative and quirky ways people thought of to create art from Peeps.

Wow great lens! Who knew peep art existed?

Surfie LM on July 12, 2010:

I love the ghost Peeps that come out around Halloween. They're especially yummy if you microwave them for a few seconds so they puff up and get all melty, but still have that tasty granulated sugar shell. Mmmm...

Virginia Allain from Central Florida on February 06, 2010:

I have a friend who's crazy about peeps. I'll have to send it to her.

I love the lens. I have to say I'm not a fan of eating Peeps, so in my eyes art is the only good use for them :)
