I simply remember my favourite things (about Australia)

What are your favourite things? Do you have a special dress, a special song, favourite place to visit, favourite recipe? I think about my favourite things in this great country of ours, Australia, whenever I need to distract my self from everyday life.

Hub title contains some of the words from the song made famous by Julie Andrews in The Sound Of Music. Picture from Wikipedia

Favourite trip

in Australia

Cape York Peninsular is at the very top of Australia's mainland and is affectionately known as 'The Tip".

Ruggedly beautiful, wild, one of Australia's last frontiers. The last time we visited these falls, there was a crocodile in the water beneath.

History making, apparently!

Eliot Falls on the Jardine River, almost at the tip.

Now I have the song stuck in my head. I love "Sound of Music" and the song, so it's not a bad thing. Anyhow, I enjoyed seeing some of your favorite things in these photos. I'd love to eventually see many of them in person.

[in reply to shajo] I'm going to look at your lens now! Fun stuff about the largest things isn't it?

anonymous on June 10, 2009:

Great minds think alike! I did my "about me" lens on my favorite things too! I even have the song on my lens also. I love your lens and the pictures. I like the largest things section the most. Keep up the great work!

Jan T Urquhart Baillie (author) from Australia on June 10, 2009:

[in reply to flipflopnana] The Ulysses flies around the Daintree, as big as a sparrow, and so blue! And where do you live, that you love so much?

Jan T Urquhart Baillie (author) from Australia on June 10, 2009:

[in reply to puzzlemaker] I had to struggle too, because I have made two extensive About Me lenses. Once you get started, it'll all spill out!

Terry Boroff (flipflopnana) from FL on June 10, 2009:

I would have to say my all time favorite place is right where I live. I enjoyed your lens! Your favorite butterfly is beautiful.

puzzlerpaige on June 10, 2009:

What great pictures you've got here. One of my favorite places is Hunting Island State Park in South Carolina. Lots of great memories made there. Hope to visit Australia one day. I like this idea for an About Me lens...I'm still struggling for the "right" idea to come my way.

Jan T Urquhart Baillie (author) from Australia on June 10, 2009:

Hi, we call them chips, not french fries in Oz, but they taste the same. The Ulysses is my talisman.

TwinsMama LM on June 10, 2009:

I love your graphics and photos! WOW! That butterfly photo is amazing. Hmmm... my favorite things ... places: Australia and England; food:popcorn and french fries; book:The Queen's Necklace by Frances Mossiker; current TV: Burn Notice.
