My Dolphin Swim at Discovery Cove

I like to take pictures and make videos of our family vacations and share them.

Discovery Cove - Orlando, Florida

Discovery Cove - Orlando, Florida

When my husband and I celebrated our 16th anniversary, we decided to go back to Orlando, to visit a park that we had not been to yet. We visited Discovery Cove. The lush, tropical landscape at Discovery Cove is breathtaking!

If you are looking for a summer vacation spot and love SeaWorld and dolphins, this is where you need to go. At this park you can get up close and personal with these amazing animals.

We have revisited twice since. The third time we brought my mother-in-law and my youngest daughter. They both swam with the dolphins and loved the park too.

If you are planning a visit to the Orlando area, add this to your list of theme parks to visit.

What is Discovery Cove?

Discovery Cove is a water park in Orlando, Florida. At Discovery Cove guests interact with a range of animals. One of the biggest adventures for guests is to swim with the bottle-nose dolphins.

Visitors can also:

  • Snorkel in the coral reef with a plethora of tropical fish in the man-made salt water lagoon.
  • Feed and interact with a wide range of colorful, exotic birds in the aviary.

Discovery Cove is all-inclusive, so food and drinks are provided for your entire day.

Check-in

The entrance at discovery cove is beautiful. When you look up you see these big suspended dolphins with schools of fish around them. This is where you check in. They take a picture of you and give you a pass that looks like a drivers license.

Food & Beverages

Discovery Cove is all-inclusive, so food and drinks are provided for your entire day. You get breakfast when you arrive then lunch. They also have a variety of snacks and drinks, including beer and wine

Snorkeling in the Saltwater Lagoon

The photos I have above are from the saltwater lagoon. When we visited the last time they had changed it. They no longer have the shipwreck, which I thought was pretty cool. All of the fish would congregate around it. The water is really, really cold, but luckily, they give you a wetsuit.

They now have a new coral reef that includes gigantic stingrays. It has a pretty decent size beach as well. I prefer the freshwater beach because the water is warmer.

The Aviary at Discovery Cove

A cool lookin owl. Look at his eye. There are tons of exotic birds at Discovery Cove. They land right on your fingers.

Discovery Cove's Man-made River

I loved floating along the beautiful lazy river. The river flows through caves, waterfalls and the aviary. All along the way is tropical foliage. It is so relaxing.

In the photo below you can see where it runs through the aviary.

My Swim With the Dolphin CJ

This was the highlight of my visit. I got to swim with a dolphin. It was amazing. It isn't for long, but it is totally worth it.

Now you can also swim with sharks too. Not for me, no thanks. The sharks swim, the dolphin swim and a few other things are on the à la carte menu and not included in your park ticket price.
