Sandals Resorts: Royal Bahamian

I like to take pictures and make videos of our family vacations and share them.

I have had the pleasure of living in Florida since I was almost 14 years old, so I have visited most of best vacation spots in our state.

A few years ago my husband and I decided instead of doing something here as we normally do, or going somewhere else in the states, we will do something different. We decided on the Bahamas. Specifically Sandals - The Royal Bahamian.

We picked Sandals because it was just couples (no children). It's not that I don't like children, it's just that we were looking to get a break from our own and I cant relax around a pool with children around. I find myself constantly watching them to make sure they are okay. For those of you that are looking to bring your children, Beaches is another an all-inclusive for the whole family. But this vacation was just for us.

Our Sandals Royal Bahamian Vacation

I made a short slideshow of our vacation so you can get an idea of what the resort looks like. You can watch it or scroll past it to continue reading about the resort and our experience.

As we all know vacations are very expensive. When you add up all the money spent on: food, drinks, gas, entertainment etc. There is also a lot of time wasted trying to find places to go and places to eat. With all-inclusive you don't have to worry about any of that. Its all there the second you arrive.

Aside from the immaculate landscape and elegant décor this particular resort also has:

  • The most beautiful romantic sunsets.
  • Crystal clear water, white sandy beach.
  • 7 pools, 6 whirlpools, waterfalls, misting
    pool & swim up bars.
  • 8 gourmet restaurants.
  • Absolutely the friendliest staff ever.

When You Arrive

When you arrive your bags are taken to your beautiful room. For some reason the photos of our room came out blurry. I wish they hadn't the room was beautiful. I do have photos of the view from our room.

The Vacation Starts Immediately

You are welcomed with a warm towel and a glass of champagne and that's it. You are free to do what you want from there. We immediately started checking everything out.

The Beach

The beach is just beautiful. The sand is perfect and the water is a crystal clear, aqua color. We did get some rain showers while we were there. They were short, like the kind we get in Florida. We also get days long rain in Florida, glad we didn't have to deal with that. In the first photo below, you can see the clouds from an incoming storm.

They offer a lot of activities as well.

The Food

The food is amazing. For breakfast they have huge buffet with everything you can imagine, including fresh fruit and beautifully carved watermelons. You can also get a custom omelet prepared right in front of you. They also have mimosas on the breakfast bar. Great for a little 'hair of the dog' after a rough night.

You can grab a snack or bite to eat any time during the day including lunch and dinner. However, dinner reservations are required for the fancier restaurants.

Some of the items on the breakfast buffet. They also have bacon, sausage, pastries etc. Just about everything you can imagine.

The Staff & Pool Bars

All of the staff was friendly, especially the pool bartenders. They were not only friendly, they were funny and provided great service. We spent a lot of time at the pool bar. We returned everyday and got to know the bartenders. Okay, that sounded bad. We also floated away from the bar and we swam in the pool. I did some water aerobics and I had to put my drink down for that. I recommend, you pace yourself, if you can. It's hard to resist, because this particular Sandals includes all top shelf liquor if you ask for it.

We made friends with a couple from Texas while we were there and decided to make plans with them for the following day. The next day, when we got to the pool, the husband was flying solo. His wife had gotten very sick and was recovering in bed from the day before. So, try to be careful with the all you can drink part.

We spent so much time at the pool bar, one day the bartender looked at me and jokingly said: "You know we have a beach too, right?"

The Piano Bar

The piano bar was awesome. I love piano bars. It is what it is, a piano bar. You pick your music and the pianist plays the song and everyone sings along.

She obviously played Piano Man. They must get so sick of playing that song, but I guess it comes with the job. I am originally from Long Island and a big Billy Joel fan, so it was fine with me.

Photographers on the Premises

They also have photographers wandering about the resort. They ask you to pose and take multiple photos. These are not included in the package, you have to purchase them. I liked it though, you get to go through all of the images from the trip then pick the ones you like. Also it is better than bothering people to take your pictures all of the time. We also bought a Sandals frame for one of the photos and a photo album for the rest. The photos we purchased are below.

Leaving the Resort for Nassau and Atlantis

On one of the days we left the resort and took a taxi to check out more of Nassau. We stopped in at Atlantis Resort & Casino took some photos outside and inside. The best thing is I got to see the massive, beautiful glass sculptures by Dale Chihuly. I did get myself in some trouble. I took a few pictures in the casino and that is a no-no.

Our Last Day

On the last day of our stay, we had some drinks, grabbed something to eat and wandered around taking photos of each other in various spots. The photo with the angels with trumpets was in one of the Sandals commercials a while back. I tried finding the commercial but I couldn't.

Worth Every Penny

All-inclusive is the way to go. As my uncle Chris would say 'no bout aduot it'. We definitely got our money's worth. Since that vacation we have visited a couple of other all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, the Dominican Republic and the Sandals Royal Caribbean in Jamaica. I am hooked.

I have been to several in this lens. I love the Outer Bank of the Carolina. The horses were amazing. I haven't thought about it in so long. We took my kids around 15 years or more ago.

My favorite vacation spots are Hawaii and Puerto Rico. I've never tried all-inclusive but I've always wondered what it was like. Your lens has answered a lot of questions and make me think we'll try it one of these days. Thanks!

@KokoTravel: It is so great to just relax for a few days with no worries!

KokoTravel on September 16, 2010:

We love the Riviera Maya and Puerto Vallarta. I agree, All Inclusive is the way to go. It certainly takes the stress out of vacations because you know exactly how much you are going to spend. No surprises at the end.

Our trip to Key West was one of my favs. It is really expensive but so worth it. I think I would like to try an all inclusive one of these years. I am going back to Key West in November but maybe next year.
