Winter in Utah Is Spectacular

Author:

Whenever I have free time with my husband, we like going out spending time by doing activities together such as hiking in the canyon.

Utah has the best snow on earth. The canyon is covered with powdery and white snow. I love to be out in the morning during this time of year.

Beautiful and Breathtaking Canyons

For many years I have had a great experience of adventurous life after moving and living in Utah. One of them is hiking during wintertime. Utah is so beautiful during this time of year. Every canyons and valley are blankets with powdery and white snow. Most of the time, in the morning, I prefer hiking up to the mountain with my husband to enjoy the crisp air. Other than to smell the clean and fresh air, we want to appreciate the beauty and charm of nature.

Last two weekends of November we went to Millcreek and Nebo Loop. Millcreek Canyon is a beautiful mountain canyon in the Wasatch Mountains and part of Millcreek City on the east side of the Salt Lake Valley, Utah.

In the meantime, The Nebo Loop is situated in Uinta National Forest between the cities of Nephi and Payson. It climbs to over 9,000 feet in elevation and provides breathtaking views of Utah Valley, the Wasatch Mountains, and 11,928-foot Mount Nebo, the tallest mountain in the Wasatch Range.

Millcreek Canyon

There's no doubt I have never missed visiting Millcreek Canyon during fall time because this place is so enchanted during that time. The leaves are so vibrant in red, pink, yellow, and orange. Millcreek Canyon has a variety of trails for hiking.

However, during wintertime, the canyon is blanketing with white snow. While we were hiking, we stopped by taking some pictures surrounding the area. By the way, this canyon is famous for outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, walking, trails, skiing, and mountain biking. If you are an enthusiastic outdoor-activity fan, this place is perfect for your adventurous!

We parked our car at the picnic area and decided to hike up along the trails. It was cold that morning. We are prepared with a jacket, hat, boots, and gloves. As I glance at my watch, we hiked almost for 2 hours. We met up with a few other people who jogged with their dogs, and some just did the same thing as us. Before leaving, I took a few photos to add to my photo collection.

Note: There is a $5.00 fee per vehicle is paid upon leaving Millcreek Canyon.

Nebo Loop

I was very excited as this was my first time to go to the Nebo Loop. We left quite early that morning as we prefer to escape the traffic. From Salt Lake City, it takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes to get there. As getting closer to the destination, I saw the road runs through vegetation communities ranging from oak and juniper to aspen and spruce-fir. As we have increased in altitude, I can feel that my ears are pop. My heart is beating quite fast because I cannot wait to get out of the car to explore.

From the top, we able to view breathtaking views from Mount Nebo. The snow-covered the ground. However, I was prepared that day with a jacket, boots, hat, and scarf. I took some time to walk to play with the snow. In the meantime, I saw several pullouts with scenic overlooks, informational signs, and trails are located along the byway. I was a little bit disappointed about not coming here during fall. I imagined the byway was very beautiful bright with fall foliage.

While seeing the scene, I thought this is one of my favorite scenic drives because I've got to see the gorgeous view, especially the Wasatch front and Utah county and the mountains and the valley. I feel fortunate to witness the incredible nature on earth.

Excited for More!

Winter officially started in Utah on December 21st. However, nature doesn't lie. Based on my observations for the past two weeks, winter is arriving early. Either way, I'm excited to explore and sightseeing the beauty and gorgeous winter presence in Utah.

Find me? I was in between these trees. The snow was thick enough to drown my boots in the snow.

Utah is such a spectacular state by way of nature. My mother, niece, and I once spent two weeks there visiting many state parks and all of the national parks. We started by flying to Salt Lake City, rented a car, and ended up back there to fly home. It was during the summertime. Thanks for showing us some of the winter scenery where you got to hike.
