Visiting Mystic Village in Mystic Connecticut

Mystic Village, a quaint little village with more than you think to offer.

Mystic Village in Connecticut is a place you should go for a wonderful day away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You won’t find pilgrims there; but you will find products from all over the world displayed in stores tucked between cobble stone paths and beautiful beds of flowers.

Restaurants and old-style coffee shops are scattered through-out the village for the dinning pleasure of all. They offer a quick snack, a large sit-down meal, or cold drinks on the go. The food is as diverse as the names and the seafood, being close to the sea, is fresh and tasty.

There is a Gazebo

A Gazebo sits near the center surrounded by flowers and built of rough wood for the enjoyment of those who walk the paths. It houses an occasional band who plays for the pleasure of all; or an artist or photographer hoping to show off their skills. Occasionally, a new vendor, or three, will come to show off their wares, and hopefully make a sale. Sadly, I didn't get a picture of the gazebo at Mystic Village, but this one looks similar.

Duck ponds are everywhere, and so are the ducks!

Duck ponds are located in three different places in Mystic Village, with flowing water, homes, islands and plenty of room. A water wheel sits on the side of one pond, showing off the ancient use of water. A bridge covers the small brook that leads from the largest pond to an underground system that circulates the water to keep it fresh and aerated. Ducks of all shapes and sizes live in and around the village and can be seen roaming about looking for attention or food. They come from miles around to rest and bear their young in a safe, healthy environment.

Imagine a place where beauty is everywhere and unique items abound, this is Mystic Village.

There is something for everyone at Mystic Village

No matter what your taste, Mystic Village has a store for it. An army and navy store rests on one corner with “Raining Cats and Dogs” right next door. Clothing stores abound as do kitchen stores (The Gray Goose and The Gray Goose II). Specialty stores can also be found from pewter articles to Native American items. Jewelry, decorations, old-style décor, even garden accessories can be found at Mystic Village. A widely visited store is Franklin’s General Store with all flavors of homemade fudge that will call you back for more.

If you prefer to shop, feed the ducks, rest and enjoy the view, or walk around to see what’s new, you can find it at Mystic Village. Mystic Village is located off of I-95 right next door to the Mystic Aquarium, while the Mystic Seaport is only a mile or so away. It doesn’t cost you anything to enter the village, but it may cost you before you leave because the unique and beautiful stores, carrying everything from Native American Jewelry to Zebra’s stuffed and cute as a button, will draw you into their arms. The even have a Christmas store that is open all year round for your shopping pleasure.

Plants are everywhere and the beauty is something you should see in person.
