A place known as Eden on the Hudson is Untermyer Park and Gardens located in Yonkers, NY. It has a breath taking view of the Hudson River and a quiet garden with water falls. A relaxing place to hang out for an afternoon. It is free to the public.

This Park and Garden is open to the public and free of charge. The Untermyer Park Conservatory in partnership with the City of Yonkers is in the process of restoring this park to it's former glory.

The Estate of Samuel Untermyer was donated to the City of Yonkers in 1946 consisting about 43 acres that borders a hiking trail (part of the Old Croton Aqueduct). It overlooks the Hudson River and across from the Palisades. The Park/Garden consists of a Rock Garden with a newly renovated waterfall. A main garden with flowers and water fountain with koi fish. There are various lookout gazebos and a vast lawn for picnic and relaxation.

There is limited parking from the front entrance along North Broadway. However, you can walk to the back entrance via the Old Croton Aqueduct. You can get there by Metro North Train from NYC at the Greystone station.

The Neighorhood

Adjacent to the property is St. John's Hospital. The original mansion was located at that location. It was torn down due to disrepair. The property was donated for the construction of the hospital.

Rumors of Hauntings

During the 1970s, the Son of Sam shootings, it was rumored that a satanic cult hung out at the site at night. With the current ongoing restoration efforts, it is a wonderful place for families.

A hidden gem in Westchester County is the Untermyer Garden. Well worth a visit for an afternoon. Bring a picnic and blanket and sit on the lawn. A place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Westchester, NY.

The walled garden is a site familiar to wedding photographers. It is based on the Garden of Eden described in the book of Genesis.

There are many walls and floor decorated with mosaic tiles Fashoned after the Roman villas.
