Travelling with friends

Travelling with friends advantages

  • In my opinion, it depends on the vacation’s location and the duration.
  • If the vacation is at the beach, waterfalls, camping trip or a roller coaster ride, I would definitely choose to travel with my rowdy friends whom I can have amazing adventures, many exciting new things to discover, different knowledge to share with each other.
  • The best part is when some of us friends share the same interest in a certain topic.
  • We could have a load of great time to talk about during our travelling journey, never out of subject to talk about.
  • Nothing to hide, enjoy conversation and talk about travelling experiences, exchange tips and tricks to get the best travelling locations.
  • Create activities or events to play during the trip. Friends are more open and comical than family members.
  • Help each other through hard times, when encounter difficulties, get extra helping hands from great friends.

Benefits Of Having Funny Friends

  1. It would be wise to bring along those funny nature friends who could crack up jokes anytime, easy going behavior and always full of entertaining ideas to keep the travelling journey fun and happy.
  2. Some of the travelling ideas would be create games, quizzes, and jokes to share, speak from individual experiences and chores to do so that everyone is involved and participate in every event.
  3. I love to be with funny friends, very entertaining, full of laughter to brighten up my mood.
  4. Friends could talk about our future, our dreams to pursue, our past memorable memories, our personal or family problems and our hidden secrets that had been locked away in our hearts for years.
  5. Although we may not receive any favorable solutions or ideas, it is still great to share and voice out our feelings, get them out of our chest just for once.

Camping with friends

Disadvantages travelling with friends

  • Boring and quiet people could bring a long silence throughout the journey.
  • Encounter different opinions that might disagree in many aspects.
  • Test of friendship. If you meet someone who has a bad temper and non sociable, both of you may end up going separate ways at certain point ( separate food location or hotel )
  • Selfish friends may show his behavior and actions that would irritate you. While others just close an eye and carry one as if nothing happens.

Carry cash or credit card in hand

More Disadvantages Travelling With Friends

  • The only disadvantage to travel with friends is; each of us have to pay our own expenses; pay by Dutch.
  • Hence, it is wise to bring extra cash or credit card in case you need to buy more food, daily necessities, souvenirs and unexpected expenses that may crop up due to unforeseen problems

Travelling with your family

Travelling with your family can be fun too

Travelling with your family can be fun too

My Opinion:

I have 2 kids whom the age gap is quite far apart; the eldest is a teen while the younger is a pre-schooler. My preschooler boy is an active boy, often seen jumping up and down over something that is new to him and we adults had to be prepared for his unstoppable questions.

Hence, it is a challenging for him to explore new places, learn how to communicate in foreign language and learn the foreign cultures.

Both of them had fun learning how to say simple sentences such as “how are you?” “Hello”, “Thank you” and surprisingly, younger generations have the ability to pickup new languages in the shortest time, compare to adults.

Travelling With My Family

If the vacation location is at the resort, sight-seeing foreign countries, a get-away trip to country side; it would be nice to travel with my loving family. These cozy vacation places are ideal for building up family bonds whether estranged or not.

A family get together during school holidays where kids, teens and adults could spend some quality time together, learn some new experiences and knowledge together. Kids are always eager to absorb lots of new things, widen their knowledge and most importantly, to have fun while learning.

Understanding what your family needs

Advantages Of Travelling With My Family:

  1. It was an eye opener for us and the kids to experience new weather, food cuisines and the people behaviors.
  2. Since parents know very well what the kids love to eat, bad habits or behavior and what they love to do when they are bored, it is easy to pacify their boredom with their favorite food, I pad or game gadgets to kill the time, listen to their favorite music and board games to keep them active, entertained and occupied at all times.
  3. When travelling with family, kids don’t have to pay for anything, parents is the “money tree”.

The Best Reasons For Travelling With My Family are:

The advantage of travelling with family is we know each other’s bad habits, need not have to feel embarrassed at all. If we are travelling with friends, I would be at my best behavior, keep my fart as long as I could before I release it to the wild. I am the “angel” among them!

victor from India on November 10, 2015:

Were you writing in the same name in Bubblews ?

peachy (author) from Home Sweet Home on October 29, 2015:

Dear promisem, it is better to ask and know what each other wants

promisem on October 25, 2015:

I find we all try too hard to defer each other:

"What do you want to do?"

"It doesn't matter to me. It's all up to you."

"I want you to choose. Really!"

And back and forth. We spend more time trying to decide what to do than what we end up doing. :)

peachy (author) from Home Sweet Home on September 25, 2015:

thanks newjerusalem, some people prefer to travel alone because he need not consider the other party opinion and preferences.

victor from India on September 25, 2015:

Both options have the merits and demerits. I travel with family as well as with friends. I like both the experiences. I think we should enjoy both occasions. Some times we get opportunities -- may be official -- to go with friends only and in such occasions we have to enjoy the trip with friends. Always we can plan of our own to travel with family and enjoy the trip with them.

You have mentioned the points so clearly that any reader can understand the advantages. I met once a retired doctor traveller from Malaysia who does some exploration in travelling around the world. When I asked, " whom do you take in your trips?" He told me to my surprise, " I always travel alone" and also he explained the reasons for it.

peachy (author) from Home Sweet Home on March 07, 2015:

me neither, the furtest i could travel is singapore because malaysia is just next to it

SweetiePie from Southern California, USA on March 05, 2015:

I cannot afford to travel, so it would be nice to do it again. Travelling is a luxury when you have to focus on paying the bills. However, I live in Southern California, so there are so many wonderful outdoor opportunities, and one friend pointed out how many people pay money to go on trips here, so I am just trying to make the best of things locally. I think the ideas about doing stuff with friends can work with going on local hikes, which is what I have done with my friend. We then have gone to local Indian and Thai places, and this works with our budget.

Giovanna from UK on March 05, 2015:

I can honestly say that the best holidays I have had have been with my family. I love taking my son away and showing him new things. I think travelling with friends is rather touch and go. I have heard so many stories about how friendships and even relationships came to an end after a holiday!! Very odd. Happy holidays everyone! Don't forget to visit me for great responsible travel.:)

Wendy Iturrizaga from France on March 05, 2015:

I can do both but I prefer to travel with family. It really depends where I go, for how long and with who. I guess I just love travelling regardless of who I go with!

Au fait

true, going on a trip together you could discover the pros and cons on the trip itself

C E Clark from North Texas on February 25, 2015:

I always say one should go on a trip with a man/woman they're intending to marry before the decision to marry is made. A week traveling by public transportation or private vehicle will usually, at some point, cause people to set aside their best behavior and bring out the real person.

peachy (author) from Home Sweet Home on February 07, 2015:

pagesvoice

lol, she must be bored with the same old people, 3rd day and she said they stink.

pagesvoice

thanks, I love travelling with family, all my cons are shown in the car

Linda Bryen from United Kingdom on February 07, 2015:

I like traveling with friends and family but it has to be on two separate occasions. I travelled with my family when I visited them Last January 2014 and hoping to see them again next year. Your hub is interesting and it shows the up and downs for traveling with friends or family. You got lovely photos as well. Thank you for sharing.

Dennis L. Page from New York/Pennsylvania border on February 07, 2015:

I used to have a neighbor who likened family/friends staying together as fish. She would state that the first day together is refreshing and glorious. The second day together is still good, but not as good as the first. By the third day she claimed they all started to stink and it was time to throw them out. Naturally, she was joking, although she makes a valid case for spending too much time together regardless whether they are friends or family.

thanks for reading, true that there are pros and cons for both

Sanjay Sharma from Mandi (HP) India on February 04, 2015:

Travelling either with family or friends depends upon situation. Thanks for bringing the issue to limelight.

thanks, i had just deleted the repeat words, thanks

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on January 22, 2015:

I have traveled with family members and also friends and like both. I have fond memories of those various travels. By the way, you have some repetitious sentences or parts of them in your first section that you may wish to edit out.

@Adventuretravels

what happened to your greece holiday?

Giovanna from UK on January 05, 2015:

Traveling with young kids isn't easy but it opens doors -people in Europe adore children so we found that we talked to more people. It's a bit like traveling with a dog -other dog lovers say hello! I lost a couple of friends after a holiday in Greece year and years ago - that was a stark warning! make sure you really are on the same wavelength. Great hub. Shared.

peachy (author) from Home Sweet Home on December 26, 2014:

@mel

lol! your kids are so sweet and considerate, your wife is hilarious and mindful, You should try Mr bean methods to keep yourself wide awake. LOL

Mel Carriere from Snowbound and down in Northern Colorado on December 25, 2014:

I haven't traveled with friends in a long time. My family is generally great to travel with. My kids always found ways to keep themselves occupied on long journeys. The youngest would sleep and the oldest would look at maps and ask questions. My wife would frequently kick me or pinch me to keep me awake. Great hub!

peachy (author) from Home Sweet Home on August 11, 2014:

@KoffeeKlatch Gals

Yeah, i prefer to travel with my family too. Knows all my bad habits

Susan Hazelton from Sunny Florida on August 10, 2014:

You do make great arguments for traveling with friends but if I had to choose I would say I would rather travel with family. To tell the truth what seems to work for us is to travel with family and friends at the same time.

peachy (author) from Home Sweet Home on August 10, 2014:

i like travelling with my family, as i had mentioned i can fart, dig my nose without care!!

Shasta Matova from USA on July 05, 2014:

I enjoy traveling with friends and with family - it really depends on the type of trip and the type of person that comes with me. I like someone who is easy going and fun to be with.

peachy (author) from Home Sweet Home on February 17, 2014:

you have great friends and family members to hang out with

Avneet kaur Sidhu from Chandigarh on December 09, 2013:

Great hub peachpurple.... You are absolutely right that it depends on the location and duration of the vacation that decides whether we should go with friends or family. I love to travel a lot and I'll say that both experiences are different: friends and family. I prefer going to a crazy location with my friends and some peaceful place with my family... what's your idea?

Celina Martin from London on December 08, 2013:

Loved reading it! I love to travel with both friends and family (separately). And luckily both types of trips turned out to be fun in my case!

peachy (author) from Home Sweet Home on December 05, 2013:

@WriterFox

Thanks for yr comments. Never been to disneyland. Not enough budget. Family travelling is fun indeed

Writer Fox from the wadi near the little river on December 05, 2013:

I think places like Disneyland are fun with families and other adventure-type travels are more fun with friends. Either way, it's much more fun (and less dangerous) to travel in a group. Enjoyed your viewpoints.

peachy (author) from Home Sweet Home on November 27, 2013:

thanks for reading. R u the same susan at Bubblews.com?

Susan from India on November 25, 2013:

Very well written hub. I love travelling with my family.

peachy (author) from Home Sweet Home on November 25, 2013:

yeah, i take lots of photos too

peachy (author) from Home Sweet Home on November 25, 2013:

i love to travel with my family. Show hand, everything that embarrassing. Nothing to it.

Suzanne Day from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on November 23, 2013:

It's true you wouldn't want to fart in front of your friends. But whether you are traveling with family or friends, I think taking a lot of photos along the way is a must!

Dil Vil from India on November 11, 2013:

Good hub, well written as well. I prefer to travel with family :)

peachy (author) from Home Sweet Home on September 25, 2013:

@DDE

Very true

Devika Primić from Dubrovnik, Croatia on September 08, 2013:

I prefer travelling with family the only true people for me, with friends there can be many issues, an interesting thought here.

peachy (author) from Home Sweet Home on September 04, 2013:

@epbooks

True, once i travel with a group travel agency. It was a horrible and boring experience !

@kidscrafts

Agree!

kidscrafts from Ottawa, Canada on September 03, 2013:

I tried both and it can be fun in both cases! And as EpBooks mentioned, it's better when the group whit which you travel has the same interests otherwise, the trip will feel quite long!

Elizabeth Parker from Las Vegas, NV on September 03, 2013:

I could travel with either friends or family, as long as they have the same interests that I do. I've traveled with people who are completely different, and that makes the entire trip stressful.
