Dubai is a shopper's paradise. When you think of Dubai, shopping is the next thing that flashes in your mind. Malls in Dubai are not just a shopping experience; there is so much more than shopping in each and every mall.
Dubai Malls are not small they are huge, you should put on your walking shoes and be ready to walk. One day is not enough to cover an entire mall; you will need at least two days minimum to go briefly through each mall.
Presenting the top five malls, that must be visited on your trip to Dubai -
Dubai Mall was constructed by Emaar Properties over a time span of fewer than four years. The internal floor area is about 5.9 million square feet. There are four levels in this mall serviced by many elevators and escalators.
Dubai Mall has 440,000 square feet dedicated to fashion alone and has the largest collection of fashion brands in the world. You will find the best of fashion designs around the world showcased in this mall. Ranging from high-end fashion retail outlets to daily wear clothes and accessories, Dubai Mall is a place where you will find varied styles and designs.
You will find the latest greatest range of electronic gadgets in many shops. Book lovers will not be disappointed; there are great bookstores such as - the "Book World" by Kinokuniya and W H Smith.
There are shops where you can find the latest trends in Arabic Fashion. The Arabic perfumes are out of this world and exotic.
Once you step outside the mall, you will find yourself transported into a mystical world of Dubai Water Fountains. Water jets are propelled to great heights and the jet streams dance to the sound of music. The jet streams are lighted up with vibrant colors and make the entire experience magical.
Another highlight of the Dubai Mall is the Aquarium and Underwater Zoo. This aquarium is made of the world's largest acrylic panel. There are more than 140 species in this aquarium and is home to the largest collection of sand sharks in the world.
Once you enter Dubai Mall, you will feel that you have entered a mega world of shopping that has its own time zone. You will find that time flies when you enter Dubai Mall; you will wish that each day has more than 24 hours. Even that is not sufficient to explore Dubai Mall.
Mall of Emirates
The Mall of Emirates occupying an area of 6.5 million sq. Feet is a representation of architecture derived from the Middle East and Mediterranean countries. There are more than 400 retailers from across the world in this mall. The Mall of Emirates is a shopping experience that you will never forget.
You will be able to buy regular comfort wear and designer dresses in a wide range and variety. There are famous brand labels such as Ralph Lauren, Paul Smith and Burberry to name a few. Debenhams, Splash, Sketchers, Mont Blanc, Swatch, Carrefour are some of the retail outlets in Mall of Emirates.
There is a 14-screen Cinestar Complex with the latest films. Magic Planet offers the latest, greatest games to keep children entertained for hours. You can shop for authentic, traditional items from Arabian Souk.
Ski Dubai is another major attraction of the Mall of Emirates. Ski Dubai is the only indoor ski resort that has real snow. The temperatures around the year in Ski Dubai is -1 degrees to -2 degrees Centigrade.
It has five ski slopes; five snow covered hills and chair lifts. The slope is 80 meters in height and has a width greater than the average width of a motorway. There is a variety of activities for people of all ages.
Experienced skiers can take on the back runs from the top of the ski hill, and the snowboarders can have a time of their lives in the quarterpipe and tricks area. There are instructors to teach you how to ski.
Children can have fun on the toboggan runs, ice caverns and play in a large area to make snowmen or snowballs.
Mall of the Emirates is more than just a shopper's paradise.
Ibn Battuta Mall
Ibn Battuta Mall is uniquely designed to represent the places explored by the famous Arabic explorer Ibn Battuta.
Ibn Battuta Mall is divided into six sections, each section representing the regions Ibn Batuta visited - India, China, Egypt, Tunisia, Andalusia, Persia.
The Persian Court has a stunning hand painted dome, the Indian Court has a beautifully decorated 8-meter elephant, the Chinese Court has a full-size Chinese junk and a beautiful square with many fountains. Pyramids, kings, queens and temples represent Egypt in its past glory.
Tunisia Court is themed with clouds in a blue sky inspired by the 14th Century Tunisia Court. You can enjoy the cuisine of international food outlets in this Court. The highlight of the Andalusia Court is the awe-inspiring Lion Fountain that is built based on the Fountains of Lions in Alhambra.
Deira City Center
Deira City Center is located in the Deira Community. It is the first large shopping mall introduced in Dubai. It occupies an area of 1,300,000 square feet. This City Center has many retail outlets, multiplexes, and food courts.
Children can play in Magic Planet without getting bored, and you can shop till you drop. You can enjoy a movie or shop in many designer wear stores. You can gorge yourself on Baskin Robbins Ice Cream or enjoy the Falafel treats in "Just Falafel" located at the entrance of the Food Court.
Burjumann is one of the oldest malls in Dubai. Located in Bur Dubai. It has over 300 high fashion retail outlets. It occupies an area of 2.8 million square feet. You will find famous international brands like Ralph Lauren, Dior, DKNY, Prada, Fifth Avenue, Louis Vuitton, Dolce and Gabbana, Versace, Fendi, Just Cavalli, Chanel, Hermes, Valentino and many more. You can also shop for daily wear clothes in this mall.
Burjumann has a play area that kids will enjoy. You can shop for hours without getting bored. One day will not be enough to cover this mall. You can enjoy going to the movies or just relax in one of the many cafes that offer a great variety of snacks and beverages.
Shopping in Burjumann is a great experience. You will be amazed by how the mall has been constructed. The interiors are done with class, and the architectural design of the mall is great. The mall has many atrium courtyards beautifully decorated with Date Palm Trees, fountains, and potted plants.
Dubai is well connected by taxis, tram, and the metro. All the malls in Dubai are close to metro stations, and you can hop from one mall to the other using the metro. Enjoy shopping in Dubai. Dubai is a shopper's paradise, an opportunity not to be missed.

I lived in Dubai from 1996 to 1999 and then in Abu Dhabi from 1999 to 2004. None of the mentioned 5 super malls, except Burjuman, was there at that time.
I am a civil engineer by education and am a nature lover by choice. I enjoyed the concrete jungles of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as well as off roading in its deserts and valleys.
Shopping and window shopping in Dubai malls is what my family enjoyed a lot.
Thanks you for sharing a great hub on a marvelous destination.
