Top 7 Student Holiday Jobs in Germany

Charles Nuamah is a student from Ghana currently studying abroad in Germany.

It is normally not advisable for students to work during the semester period as this can interfere with their lectures and studies and so taking up jobs during the holidays can be a great way for students to earn some extra cash to cover some basic expenses. Some companies in Germany offer jobs to students during the holidays as their workload increases during this time.

However, these companies require students to be able to speak at least basic German before they are hired. It is therefore advisable for international students to take the German language courses at their universities very seriously so that they can be able to take full advantage of these job opportunities.

It is important to note that international students who do not come from the EU or EEA are allowed to work 120 full or 240 half days in a year. If you want to work more than 120 full or 240 half days, you need the approval of the Employment Agency and the Aliens Department.
