Negros: A Travel Experience

Sherwin Jun is a student writer, taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English at Central Philippine Adventist College.

All my life, I’ve always wanted to travel and explore the beauty around me. I want to experience and appreciate life as long as I live. Travelling has always been my favorite part, because I get to enjoy being with nature, witness scenic views, and make wonderful memories in every place I go to.

Ruins in Talisay

One of the landmarks of Negros is regarded to be the ruins of Talisay. The historical mansion that burned down years ago are the sole reason why tourists from all over the Philippines gather there. Even though it was raining when we arrived, we had a great time nonetheless and were able to thoroughly explore the area. Since so many people are still coming to view it, I have no reason to doubt that it was truly a great creation. The view, especially at night, is really perfect and romantic, so it's definitely a place to visit. As I wandered around, I came across some magnificent structures that truly amazed me.

Sipalay

The Jewel of the South, surrounded by white sand beaches, crystalized lagoons, and incredible landscapes, makes it one of the most beautiful places to visit in the Philippines. We had a 5-hour drive there for our church's Thanksgiving Party. It was my second time going there, but I’m still amazed at how this place was formed.

We played various relay activities, including volleyball, sack races, and other sports, as we made our way to CampoQuino Beach. Next, we relaxed while gazing at the glistening water beneath a sunny blue sky. Then we went on a tour of Lantawan Resort, also known as (Tinagong Dagat), which greatly impressed me because it was surrounded by tiny islands and opulent resorts and hotels. We accept the 100-step challenge with our friends; it's challenging but well worth it. I can honestly say that this trip was one of my most memorable experiences and that it will live on in my memories forever.

Candoni

At Brgy. Gatuslao, there is a hidden gem that showcases the splendor of the mountains and wildlife in Candoni. Because of the hue of the soil and the extraordinarily skillfully created mountain formations, it seems as though you are in another country. We had a great time visiting well-known cafes with my family, and despite the lengthy travel, we were amazed by the beauty of the sunset. Since the clouds are in our rearview, you truly feel as though you are in heaven. We enjoyed interacting with the locals and taking a ton of photos.

Silay

One of the well-known place in Negros is Patag, Silay, which is surrounded by resorts that are quite reasonable for tourists. The area is surrounded by lush mountains, and the brisk temperature adds to how wonderful it is. When I first arrive, I take in the scenery and the natural beauty. After that, my family and I prepared our lunch by grilling chicken and seafood, and we then ate it. We also went to the Rooster Cafe, which is well known for its rooster farm and rainbow-colored stairs. The location has a lovely ambiance, and there is also no entrance cost, which is great for people who just want to wander about and spend some time in nature.

Due to its chilly weather and winding roads, this location serves as Negros' summer capital and is sometimes contrasted with Baguio City. We came here specifically to celebrate a particular birthday, to visit a lovely resort, and to take in all the momentous occasions. The atmosphere and food are both wonderful, especially if you're with family. We also went to the famed pine trees, which give you the impression that you're in another country. This experience left a lasting impression on me since it taught me that the world is too beautiful to stay in and ignore, which is why I really enjoy being in nature and admiring God's creation.

Closing Thoughts

Let’s always remember that life with God is like traveling; we’ll get to experience different memorable moments that will make us feel blessed. The beauty around us is what God has given us. That’s why let’s take care and appreciate the wonders of God’s creation.
