Stinson Beach is situated about 20 miles north of San Francisco. It is considered one of the best beaches for swimming.You can watch or participate in the 7.4 miles long Dipsea Race during June. It is the oldest trail race in America.

On clear and warm days the beach can get crowded. You can take part in activities such as surfing, swimming, kayaking, fishing, hand gliding, sunbathing and picnics.
You can rent equipment from the numerous surf shops. There are several benches, grills and picnic tables scattered around the beach.
If you enjoy hiking there is a trail from the beach to Mount Tamalpais State Park.

Pfeiffer Beach

Pfeiffer Beach is situated on the Los Padres National Forest. It is famous for its gorgeous purple sands and mesmerizing rock arrangements. The beach is small, flat and has a tiny cove that has large rugged boulders.

The beach is not ideal for swimming due to the rough waves.However, is perfect for taking photographs and climbing.
