Tokyo Views In Pictures

It was July 04, 2008 when I arrived in Tokyo, that’s when Japan started finger printing & picture requirements for all foreigners. Immigration, customs people were very nice & the process was very quick. I really loved Asakusa, Harajuku, Shinjuku and Shibuya in Tokyo Japan because it is very different; overall, my visit to Tokyo, Japan was wonderful experience.

Cosplay is unique culture in Japan & some Japanese teenagers love the Cosplaying ginza japanese girl. You may be wandering what is Cosplay. Cosplay in other words mean costume display, teenagers in Japan dress in different, manga characters & hang out in different parts of the Tokyo city. Cosplay is on specific days, area & Cosplay can be seen on video game shows, as well at parties, nightclubs & amusement parks.

In summer and winter, two Cosplay events, doujinshi market & Comiket attracts thousands of manga otaku and cosplayers.

Some Japanese people find Cosplay as silly, I believe the older Japanese generation. In the west, we have punk culture & most people don't like punk culture. But Cosplay is very different. I find Cosplay very interesting.

I will write more details later but in the meanwhile take the virtual tour. During my stay in Tokyo, I made 500 pictures & I selected best 62 pictures by attractions for this hub.

Hi gadfly; I really appreciate for your thoughts and suggestions.I had plans to visit other cities too but problem was lack of time, may be next time. But i loved my Tokyo visit.

gadfly from Ojai, California on September 03, 2009:

Great Photos -- you really captured the essence of Tokyo. If you are going back you should also go to Kyoto (the old capital) -- it has a totally different character from Tokyo.

Mr Nice (author) from North America on July 25, 2009:

Hi Christa;

Well I hope you can find the kind of clothes you like on this hub in Turkey too.

christa on July 25, 2009:

Hi Mr Nice, thanks for the hub on Tokyo, I loved the Japanese girls' clothes, I'll go shopping this week and I'll try to see if I can find similar ones, it would be great to wear this kind of things for an important appointment I have sometime soon :) I'll be following your hubs, thanks again.

Mr Nice (author) from North America on May 22, 2009:

Hi SanDiegoVending! Yes very right, vending machines are everywhere in Japan but I haven't see even one vandalized. Thanks for the visit & for your comment.

japanese words from Japan on May 21, 2009:

Great pics Mr. Nice guy. Just as a clarification, cosplay isn't actually that common, and is only practiced by a very small percent. Most Japanese are actually embarrassed by it. It is more concentrated in places like Akihabara.

SanDiegoVending on May 20, 2009:

They are so jazzed about vending machines over there! Cool pics :)

Mr Nice (author) from North America on May 20, 2009:

Hi mayhmong!

Thanks for the offer may be one day. I lived in Rosewell, Atlanta few years ago. Atlanta is beautiful but most of the businesses close at 7Pm. I am a city person & that was the reason I moved back to New York.

mayhmong from North Carolina on March 29, 2009:

Sure, c'mon on down to see the redneck state of N.C!

Mr Nice (author) from North America on March 29, 2009:

Hi Tatjana!

Did you get my message through the comment on your hub?

7 small European Countries is equal to just Tokyo 's population. Because you are not contributing enough to the world population. I believe you should.......hahaha.

Love is life......

Tatjana-Mihaela from Zadar, CROATIA on March 29, 2009:

Ha, ha, ha, whole Croatia has 4,5 millions of people....

A lots of love....

Mr Nice (author) from North America on March 29, 2009:

Hi mayhmong!

Yes, they are very organized. Do you think we can have self-service vending locations like this one? In North Carolina, New York or any where without being Vandalized I don't think so. I see the public telephones missing telephone directories & even receivers.

Please wait for full details I will write very soon. I believe Japanese are more civilized than some other nations. It is possible to take you with me but you have to invite me to North Carolina first.........hahaha got you.

What do you think?

mayhmong from North Carolina on March 29, 2009:

Tokyo is so well organized?! Not only for the smoking, venting maching area, but also for the blind folks?! Isn't Tokyo the most expensive city in the world?! It would be a dream come true if I can ever afford to go there! Next time, you gotta take me with you! ;)

Mr Nice (author) from North America on March 29, 2009:

Hi K@ri!

Yes Tokyo is very colorful. It took me hours to first select the pictures write the titles. You know adding 52 pictures on the hub takes lots of time too.

My shoulders & arms need some rest or nice massage.

Cosplay is very common hobby for young people & you can see this in every where in Japan. Thanks for the nice comment.

Kari Poulsen from Ohio on March 29, 2009:

Mr Nice, I love the pictures! Tokyo is very colorful, much more than I imagined. It really looks beautiful. I can't wait to read the details! Thanks for sharing the pictures. Looks like they really get into their cosplay :)

Mr Nice (author) from North America on March 29, 2009:

Hi G-Ma!

But I think you should go, Tokyo is beautiful in every sense I will write in detail soon. So come back & check again. Thanks for your comments. Hugs

Merle Ann Johnson from NW in the land of the Free on March 29, 2009:

I can't say I want to go there...looks really crowded and way bigger then I imagined...am so happy for you though and thanks for sharing such great shots...G-Ma :O) Hugs

Mr Nice (author) from North America on March 29, 2009:

Dobro sam Kako si Tatjana!

I loved Tokyo & in future I will stay there for extended period. Current population of Tokyo is 33,473,000 millions. I took 500 pictures but added 52 selective here.

Forever love...

Tatjana-Mihaela from Zadar, CROATIA on March 29, 2009:
