Why do tourists visit Beaches at Sunsets and Sunrises?

Tourists often visit beaches for enjoying bath but there is always an enthusiasm to experience the golden touch of sunrises and sunsets. They yearn to have photographs at these special moments by including an object, silhouette or tree to make them more prominent and memorable. In order to enjoy the moment which does not last for hours and ensure that they don't miss the opportunity many of them reach the vantage points much earlier and plan their moments. A combination of sun emerging out the horizon or disappearing in the sea and mesmerising colour changes is a rare opportunity which make these destinations very attractive.

Sunrises are Invigorating

#1. Sunrise at Tenneti Park Beach, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh

Named after a freedom fighter, Tenneti Park Beach is near Kailasagiri Hills, Visakhapatnam (also called Vizag) in the Bay of Bengal. Picturesque view of hills and sea make it a romantic destination for tourists. Sunrise at this rocky Beach is enjoyable because of the view from the cliff and many scenes are shown in the films in Hindi and local language.

#2. Sunrise at Elliot's Beach, Besant Nagar, Chennai

Marking it as an end of the famous Marina Beach at Chennai, the Elliot's Beach (also known as Besant Nagar Beach), is very popular among youth. At weak ends it becomes a family spot and is a destination for those who want tranquility and enjoy their meals at restaurants. Watch the sunrise and the calm atmosphere of this Beach.

#3. Sunrise at Tiruchendur Beach, Tamil Nadu

Sunrise here has a special meaning. Apart from having a sparkling view of the rising sun at this great beach, the visitors use it as bath before going to the temple of Lord Subramanian which is located just near the Beach. The enlivening sight of the morning at this pious Beach in Thoothukudi district in the State of Tamil Nadu is experienced by many visitors who come here to spend their vacation and do a lot of swimming and boating.

#4. Sunrise at Sea Beach, Puri

Sea Beach at Puri is a rare opportunity to enjoy both sunrise and sunset. The beach is very long and sandy and lot many tourists steal time to experience the special affects of calmness, sea roaring and changing colours in the sea during sunrises.

Sunsets are Mesmerising

#5. Sunset at Andhakaranazhi Beach, Kerala

About 30 kms away from Kochi in Kerala, there is a pristine beach nearing Alleppey. Planned for a Tsunami shelter and a lighthouse, this gives you the most relaxing experience The sunset here is really gorgeous. The water is all golden.

#6. Sunset at Muzhappilangad Drive-In Beach, Kerala

The uniqueness of this Beach is the provision for driving-in, which is not available at other beaches in India. Imagine a scene where one can drive along the seashore and enjoy it with golden ripples moving along. Youth particular prefer this Beach for their stunts in cars for drifting or for wheeling while on their bikes.

#7. Sunset at Panambur Beach, Mangalore, Karnataka

New Port Mangalore being nearby and not far away from the city, the Beach at Panambur is quite crowded and liked by children and adults alike. Submerging of the Sun creates an unforgettable sight and many tourists wait for that moment. The cloudy sky provides more thrilling opportunity for enjoying sunset here.

#8. Sunset at Calangute Beach at Goa

One of the largest and most busy beaches in Goa, this one is full of activity. In spite of its being overcrowded and commercialized tourists like it for various activities like water sports here. Sunset has a charm when you find para gliders in the background of setting sun.

#9. Sunset at Ramachandi Beach, Odisha

Just 7 kms away from the famous Konark in Odisha (earlier Orissa) Ramachandi Beach is at the point of union of river Kusabhadra with Bay of Bengal. The merger pacifies the river and, therefore, a perfect location for sailing, swimming and sunbathing. The golden sand and huge palm trees add to the grandeur of sunset at this historical Beach.

#10. The Golden touch at Sunset, Sea Beach, Puri

I visited this Beach about 35 years back. The impact of the golden spread at sunset is still vivid in my mind. It mesmerised me for ever and the very mention of this site thrills me even today.

There's something so beautiful about watching the sunrise or set, especially in the calming presence of water. I lived in South Boston, Massachusetts for about a year recently, and the beach was my favorite place to be first thing in the morning.

srsddn (author) from Dehra Dun, India on March 29, 2013:

radhikasree, thanks for visiting and liking my Hub.

Cyndi10. I have read about beaches of the US and there are quite a few wonderful one there also. Tourist visit other countries for a change and to have a glimpse of something different. I am glad you shared the Hub.

sen.sush23, I agree with you that beaches are getting more and more crowded, much might have changed in 35 years. Relatively speaking the chances of rush is more for sunsetting than for sunrising. Also the religious flavour sometimes makes one to go in for sunrise. I am glad that you liked sunrise at Puri and also the Hub.

Sushmita from Kolkata, India on March 29, 2013:

srsddn, that is really a very beautiful pictorial tour of parts of the long coastline of India. You say you had been to Puri 35 years ago. That explains that desolate stretch along the breaking surf. Now it is really difficult to get a picture without people crowding in. :)

Unfortunately, I have had less experience of sunrise and sunsets on beaches- more of frolicking. But my favorite sunrise was also long time back, as a kid, in Puri, which I renewed this year with another wonderful sunrise. Lovely hub idea, voted up.

Cynthia B Turner from Georgia on March 29, 2013:

Beautiful beaches. You captured them and the sunsets/sunrises with your photos. Excellent presentation. I'm sharing for anyone who wants to spend a few moments at the faraway (for me anyway) beaches of India.

Radhika Sreekanth from Mumbai,India on March 29, 2013:

These sunrise and sunset views are the dazzling moments in a beach. You have brought their real beauty through these photos and videos. Voted up, beautiful and awesome. Hub shared too.

beingwell from Bangkok on March 28, 2013:

Great photos! You're lucky to experience AND capture these moments. Both sunset and sunrise happen so fast. You really have to be ready while their still up or dawn, whichever the case may be.

srsddn (author) from Dehra Dun, India on March 26, 2013:

Hi! suzettenaples. The world is so beautiful and we need many lives to see a part of it. I am glad you liked the picture tour. I need to learn more and contribute to HP and I am encouraged by the comments of senior Hubbers. Thanks for stopping by.

Hi, Ruchira. Local conditions like clarity of the water, nature of sand, weather, and even nature of visitors etc. contribute to make it a different experience. Thanks for visiting.

Hi, ladyeonne. Mornings and evenings are the best times to enjoy beaches which relax you. I am glad you liked the photos.

Deonne Anderson from Florence, SC on March 26, 2013:
