Stunning Beauty of Puerto Galera, Philippines
Puerto Galera
Puerto Galera Is a tourist spot in Mindoro Oriental, Philippines. It is one of the tourists attractions in the Province of Oriental Mindoro with its' stunning white beaches with clear blue water and beautiful mountains. It is a tropical paradise not only for the Filipinos but also for the foreigners. It is a place where you can have a very relaxing vacation or you can have an active one as you wish.
How To Go To Puerto Galera
If you are living abroad, you have to fly to Manila International Airport (NAIA), Philippines first. Then you have to take a car, a taxi or a bus to Batangas Port. It will take more or less 2 hours to drive to Batangas Port by car. If you decide to take a bus, it will be a longer drive as the bus will stop at many different stations on the way to Batangas Port. Then you can buy a ticket for the SuperCat or a Roro ferry To Calapan. The best way is to take the SuperCat ferry which costs only 310 Pesos (Philippine money) per ticket and the trip is only ca. 1 hour until Calapan Port. Then there is a terminal fee for 20 Pesos each person and another 20 Pesos for travel insurance if you want to. It is all up to you if you want to be insured for this trip. Be sure to take a seat number before you check in, to present to the porter when you enter the ferry.
As my husband and I were staying at the rest house of my best friend, we drove to Puerto Galera for a short holiday with my friend and her family. The road to Puerto Galera was quite good and curvey. It was like a serpent road going up to the beautiful mountains overlooking the view of Puerto Galera beaches. We had a short stop at the Tamaraw Falls on our way to the White beach. Then going down the hill until we arrived to our destination.
White Beach
White Beach is one of the many beautiful beaches in Puerto Galera with its' amazing white sands and crystal clear water. It is one of the most popular beaches of Puerto Galera. The White Beach offers a lot of affordable cosy cottages with electric fan or with air condition. Some of the cottages have a kitchen where you can cook for yourself.
On our short holidays to Puerto Galera with my hubby and friends, I experienced great and fantastic days with laughter and joy as we were always having a laugh about everything we talked about. It was like having a laughter yoga as there was always something we laughed about.
We rented two cottages which were in front of the souvenir shops at the promenade. Lots of bars, restaurants, souvenir shops and diving schools are there at the White beach offering their services. Men offering their boat services to Calapan, to Batangas or to other tourist attractions like boating to Tamaraw Falls. Women offering their open air massage services where everybody can see them performing their work at the White Beach as they are not allowed to do massages inside the cottages.
White Beach is very beautiful especially the sunset. At nighttime, the promenade is full of tourists and it is alive while in the morning it is so quiet.
Things To Do In Puerto Galera
- Swimming
- Diving
- Sailing
- Surfing
- Snorkeling
- Walking on the beach
- Dancing
Sabang Beach
Sabang Beach is one of the beautiful beaches aside from White Beach. Sabang is a small village in Puerto Galera. Sabang has only one road to the beach, so prefer to walk. Everything is on walking distance. The shops, the bars, the restaurants and of course to the beach where you can find a boat for kayaking, snorkeling or diving.
Sabang comes to life when the night light starts to shine. Women with their short dresses and make ups are on their way to their work. To the bars where they work as dancers to many discotheque and they offer their services to the foreigners.
Going to Sabang was not really planned. It was a spontaneous decision to stay at The Tropicana Castle. It was wonderful as my friend rented the Dome, the highest and most expensive room in the Castle. The Dome has 2 beds, a billard table, a beautiful old fashion bathroom and the entire room has a touch of European design. There were 2 doors in going to the terrace where we have seen the amazing view of Puerto Galera beaches.
It was a wonderful overnight stay at the Tropicana Castle where we enjoyed talking to each other at night time, laughing and looking at the people down the road from the terrace of the Dome. It was worth climbing the 99 stairs (as I counted) going up to the Dome where I was able to see the beautiful nature of Puerto Galera.

Philippines Travel Guide
Philippines Travel Guide is a must companion in travelling to my home country as it is very helpful about what to do there, where to stay and what travel tours one can make. It is also helpful in knowing the culture and tradition of the local people in the Philippines.

Hi Thelma,
Thanks for being a proud Pinoy! I love PG it is my second home, my father lived there way back 1983 when the island was still not as busy as to how they are now. Since about 10yrs of age, it's been a part of me and I have been missing it terribly. My father still lives there till now, he lives in a yacht there and consider himself a local. :) Again, many thanks for your post.
