Niks writes about some of the subtle changes after the pandemic ends in the way people interpret traveling.
Tourism is one of the top businesses to suffer due to COVID-19 pandemic. A lot of travel enthusiasts are praying for the things to get back to normality. Those free wanderers are feeling nostalgic about the places they explored so far.
Another thought striking the minds of travel lovers is about how the world will be for them after the pandemic. Some major changes are expected in the way the travel business is carried out. Let's have a look at the 5 things related to touring that are most probably going to change.
1. Locals spots in demand
Even if the lockdown gets unlocked, everything won't be as it was before right away. It will definitely take some time. People who love to explore various amazing destinations across the globe will tend to make local tours.
To avoid the crowd and maintain social distancing, people will plan local trips. In this way, they will be able to cherish the beauty that this nearby spot has to offer. They were missing it due to the craze for the world-famous destinations. It won't be surprising that these types of places will be in high demand like never before.
2. Escaping to Offbeat sites
There are some off-beat travel places that are overlooked by many of us. They actually can mesmerize us with something adorable hidden inside them. These locations are less explored and that's why they are not much crowded.
But, they are worth every penny. In spite of being not regarded as a famous tourist destination, they still offer an authentic natural beauty. As a result of the economic crisis and the overall situation of the world, travelers will be packing their bags to visit these offbeat locations which they were delaying to visit until this date.
3. Tourist vehicle accommodations
Travel modes play a vital role in the tourism business. In order to obey the social distancing rules, the tourist vehicles like bus, train, or even an airplane will allot fewer passengers than what their accommodation capacity is.
There is a possibility that the whole interior of the airplane may change in the nearby future. Flights will occupy less number of people and the seats will be a bit more spacious than what we see in the business class now. The capacity of people in a passenger-carrying vehicle will decrease but the number of such vehicles will increase.
4. Hygienic restaurants
Just like the tourism industry is in a great loss, so is the hotel business. And, you know that tourism and hotel are connected to each other. The first thing a traveler plans while taking off on a tour is the hotel for lodging and eating food. A good hotel is a generally a crowdy place.
So, to maintain hygiene is the key aim of the working unit of the hotel. If we consider going to the tour and staying in a hotel, the first thing we will hereafter look at is its hygiene. Along with good food, the cleanliness of the hotel will affect its business in the post-pandemic world.
5. Beaches or Mountains?
There is a great number of beach lovers widely spread on the earth. Many people decide to shift to the cities having coastlines as they love the beaches. Beaches and Mountains are the two contrasting touring destinations. But both are equally admired by travelers.
But, the beaches are mostly crowded with people for all seasons of the year. The mountains are comparatively less crowded. However, in the nearby months after the threat of pandemic falls, People will favor trekking. To avoid getting into the crowded beaches, they will prefer climbing the hills. This change won't be drastic, like all the beach lovers will be spotted up the hills, but there will be a subtle change.
Additionally, one of the biggest changes expected to take place in the travel world is the tightening of security. The checking of the emigrants will deepen than what it is right now. Moreover, there will be a health checkup of the tourists at the airport before allowing them to proceed.
The travel birds are eager to take off from their nests and fly towards their dream destinations. Soon their desire will get fulfilled as everything gets back to normality. Travelers will be creating memories and the tourism business will be profiting again. We will soon see this picture for sure.
Till then we can recall the past travel memories and feel lucky. Plus, we can start to plan the places to visit in the nearby future with the help of travel blogs available on the internet. Let's pray together for the travel space to return after the dark clouds of pandemic fade away. So, enjoy safe touring in the upcoming months.

Thanks a lot, Brenda. Yes, we all are longing for the travel to return. Fun is the most vital part of any travel without which it gets boring. I hope the fun in traveling bounces back soon so that we can pack our bags and take off.

Thanks for your precious comment, John. Yes, there is a strong possibility of all of the above changes to take place.
John Hansen from Queensland Australia on June 04, 2020:
Niks, you make some excellent points and explain them well. I think the way people travel will certainly be changed when this pandemic eases. I could have probably chosen “all of the above” in the poll because I think they may all happen. Thank you for sharing.
BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on June 04, 2020:
I hope travel does return. I really look forward to going places at least once a year.
I am happy to travel by automobile. One gets to see the countryside this way and usually can find a unique little place to dine.
Problem right now is that nothing is open to go see or do anything. I may be able to get a room...but if there is nothing to do it takes the fun out of it.
As for airplanes...they have been too crowded for far too long. Maybe this will make them improve.
Looking forward to reading your poetry also.

Until the vaccine launches, tourists will have to face some major changes. these changes will ensure the safe touring and hoping that everything will be just like it was before, gradually after the discovery of the vaccine.

Yeah, you are right Nikhil, there will rarely be any business trips as all the business work will be handled via digital resources except some of the sectors which require offline work. Thanks for the comment, Nikhil.

Thanks for commenting, Suchi ji. Indeed vaccination is the ultimate remedy for the current situation and it will be a great boon for travel lovers.
Suchismita Pradhan from India on May 29, 2020:
Looking at the current scenario, things may change, now ladies will spend more on designer face masks than on lipsticks, many have to learn eye expression during the selfie than the facial expression...jokes apart.Vaccine is the need of the hour, hope things will come in the right place soon.Till then lets enjoy our local spots and stay positive.
Prantika Samanta from Kolkata, India on May 27, 2020:
Based on the current scenario, many changes may happen in the future post pandemic. Each change will have pros and cons. But that may again affect the tourism industry to a large extent. However, the discovery of the vaccine is the need of the hour and can provide respite to the tourism industry.
Your suggestions will benefit travelers to plan their vacation post pandemic.
Nikhil Sharma from India on May 27, 2020:
Travel and hospitality are the two biggest industries affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. When all of this will settle down, almost everything related to travel will change.
Although many people may not like those changes, it will be for the betterment of people and their safety. As you wrote in the article, people will plan to travel for leisure purpose either to the nearby spots or places with fewer tourists. Post this pandemic, business trips will probably become the thing of the past. A lovely article from you, Mr. Niks.

yes you are right , the changes I mentioned are for a specific period after which everything will be gradually back to normality. After all, this hub describes the expected changes and not the changes that are certain. Thanks for the comment, Liz.
Liz Westwood from UK on May 27, 2020:
My hope is that, although changes will be made in the short term, once there is a vaccine, a form of normality can return.
