Jesus and the Cross
On a bleak landscape in West Texas near the small town of Groom stands a cross of proportions that that can hardly be believed. A person driving on Interstate 40 certainly will notice it, and the appeal to visit beckons strongly. What the cross represents is not so apparent until a seeking soul is drawn in. The story of the crucifixion of Jesus is spelled out step by step in graphic sculpture from Jesus teaching by a pool to Jesus being tried by Pilate to Jesus being nailed on the cross to the empty tomb. The call to Worship permeates every facet of the exhibit.
The pictures below are meant to whet your spiritual appetite; they cannot substitute for the real thing. While there, be sure to visit the well-stocked gift center. Now, look and take pleasure . . . .

I stopped here in 2006 on my way to Chicago , as we started our journey from California I was very uneasy and scared about the big move , but we stopped here and spent a while and when we left I felt so much better and calm like nothing can go wrong, and it didn't, and so on my way back because Chicago was not for me,I stopped here again, and once again that calming feeling !!!! LOVED this place

THE FIRST OF OCTOBER,2013 WAS MY SECOND TRIP TO GROOM,TEXAS. THE FIRST TIME WAS IN A GREAT HURRY, YOU CAN'T MISS THE CROSS, BUT YOU CAN MISS THE BEAUTY ALL AROUND IT. THIS TRIP HAD A PLANNED STOP AT THE CROSS.
DON'T THINK I WILL EVER BY-PASS IT AGAIN.
THINKING THIS IS ON DONATED PRIVATE LAND. AMARILLO TURNED IT DOWN BECAUSE THEY DID NOT WANT THE LEGAL PROBLEMS WHAT THEY PASSED UP. WOW!!!

I saw this when I was 8 years old and I was on my way to be adopted. It does leave a very strong image in your mind. It was very beautiful. It takes you step by step through Good Friday and resurrection Sunday.

My daughter took me to the cross as a surprise. We lived in Houston, Texas. I was speechless. Didn't know they made anything like it anywhere. Then at the end, I saw the tomb and it was just like being there with Christ. I sat down and cried. My daughter found me and we cried together. So so worth the trip to see this reproduction.

My late husband and I saw this crosss many miles before we actually got to it. We were on our way to New York. We were both speechless and overcome by it's beauty. It was not yet complete back in 1995,96, I believe. Still, it was beautiful. I am taking a road trip to New Mexico this coming July and I am taking my 84 yr old Mother. I can't wait to see the look on her face. I can't wait to see it again. It's so worth the extra drive

This is absolutely enlightening, this should be everywhere so that ppl can see this & Understand this. Maybe then People would have more compassion for others & learn to Love instead of hate!!!
