Pendleton Scarecrow Contest 2015
Pendleton Scarecrow Contest 2015
Experience Pendleton SC this Fall!
If you come to Pendleton this fall you will not only enjoy the beautiful autumn foliage but you will also see our historic town filled with clever scarecrows. This is a special year for us as we are celebrating the town's 225th birthday and we hope to have 225 scarecrows around town. These are not your ordinary scarecrows. They are very clever and it is always an amazing sight to see.
Our Fall Harvest Festival will be on October 24th from 10 to 5 on the Village Green and there will be over 100 vendors selling their wares, crafts, art and delicious food. There will also be great entertainment and old fashioned games for the children. This will also be the last day that you can vote for your favorite scarecrow but Thursday and Friday before the Festival you will be able to vote right here. It is hard to look at them without smiling so beware, they will make you happy! You might want to bring your camera and get your photo with your favorite scarecrow.
While you are in town, please take time to visit the wonderful shops and restaurants. We think you will be glad you did!
Thank you to all who participated! These are amazing scarecrows.
Let the Voting Begin!
Congratulations to the Winners
Scarecrows and Their Creators are Appreciated!
Thank you to all who volunteer to create Scarecrows for Pendleton. Our Community Spirit really shines through these wonderful, fun creatures and brings smiles to so many faces. It is a joy to sit on the Village Green and watch the families walking around looking at the scarecrows and to hear the laughter in the air. They are "Mood Changers"
As my mom used to say, "We are going to spread some JOY!"!
No Two Scarecrows Are Alike! Each One Has Its Own Personality!
Thank you all!

About the Pendleton Scarecrow Contest
The Scarecrow Contest was the idea of the talented Jo McConnell. She and her husband, Pete, have organized it since the first one in Pendleton in 2012. They spend numerous hours making extra Scarecrow Exhibits to fill in as needed and they are always very cleverly done.
Jo is one of the many volunteers who serve on the Fall Harvest Festival Committee which is sponsored by the Town of Pendleton. These volunteers meet throughout the year to organize and report on their assigned duties. The Town Staff works very hard on the festival, too, as they take the role of Director and Vendor Coordinator.

Regarding Vandalism From Previous Years
Last year, in particular, we were very dismayed by the Vandalism that took place. People work very hard on their displays and it is so rude and disrespectful for people to show such little respect for another person's property. We refuse to let these vandals destroy our good time! Let's move forward with determination and please report any suspicious behavior or destruction to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office so we can put an end to the vandalism in our town.
