How to Book Tirupati Darshan Ticket Online-A Step by Step Guide

Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh is the busiest Hindu pilgrimagecenter in the world. Millions of people visit the Balaji also known as Venkateshwara temple every year. It is estimated that nearly 65,000 people visit here daily and the figure exceeds 100,000 and even more during special occasions of festivals and holidays. The temple is the richest pilgrimage center, after Kerala's Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. Pilgrims offer cash and gold lavishly to their favorite deity here. No shrines of any faiths in the world receive such a huge sum as revenue as Tirupati does.

In such a scenario, you can imagine the rush at the temple. Then how can you ensure a hassle-free and smooth ‘darshan’? Don’t worry or panic on knowing the crowd size as the technology has come to our aid here. The launch of the e-Service provided through the Online Seva Portal of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams is to help you in many ways. You just need to register with their web portal to avail these services.

By registering with the Devaswom portal, you can avail the following services.

The First and Important Step: Registration (Sign up)

To avail all the online services such as Seva, Accommodation, Donation, and Darshanam, you need to register first. The registration is a one-time process only and thereafter you can avail all the online services at any time easily. Keep in mind or equip yourself with the following conditions/guidelines for the registration process.

  • No Net banking service available. Means, you can’t make payment through the net banking service of your bank.
  • For payment, only Debit Card or Credit Card is accepted.
  • In case your bank is other than PNB (Punjab National Bank), you need to select ‘Andhra Bank’ or ICICI as it is also functioned as a ‘Gateway’ for making payment.
  • After selecting ICICI, or Andhra Pradesh Bank, you can give required particulars asked for such as Card Name, Your Name, Card Expiry Month & Year, CCV No., etc.
  • A passport size photo of size less than 20 kb required to upload. (The most confusing and time-consuming job will be uploading your photo. So make it sure that you have edited it as per the required specification).
  • In case of any difficulties during your registration process or just to have a clarification on any points, feel free to contact in Helpline No. of the Devaswom Board.
  • Helpline Nos. work 24x7 and can even be dialed from your Mobile Phone.

Tirupati Temple Darshan

In the normal case, the temple darshan is a cumbersome and tedious exercise since you need to be in the long queue for hours. At times, the queue may even take 24 hours! Being the busiest temple in the world, it is natural and beyond anyone’s control. So the only solution left is to opt for the ‘paid darshan' through online in advance. There are two types of darshan that can be booked through online.

  1. Special Entry Darshan (or VIP/Sheegra Darshan) and
  2. eSudarsanam

Special Entry Darshan (SED)/Sheegra Darshan

It is the best way for an easy darshan. You need to pay Rs.300/- per ticket. On a single booking, you can block/book tickets for 6 persons. If you book for 6 persons, you need to pay Rs.1,800/-. You can book darshan minimum of 1 day in advance up to 7 pm and maximum of 56 (earlier, it was 14) days through this scheme.

SED is normally allowed on the following ONE HOUR time slots:

09-10 am

10-11 am

11-12 noon

12-01 pm

01-02 pm

02-03 pm

03-04 pm

04-05 pm

05-06 pm

06-07 pm and

07-08 pm

What does it mean is simple; you can visit and pray before the deity anytime between 9 am to 8 pm according to your choice and availability of the time slot. At a time, you can select the only one-time slot. You will be admitted for darshan during the allotted time slot. The arrangements are in such a precision that you need not worry about anything other than to report and wait for at the fixed time and venue.

How to Book for Special Entry Darshan

This job involves four processes as shown below:

  1. BLOCK TICKET
  2. PILGRIM INFORMATION
  3. PAYMENT and
  4. CONFIRMATION

(Note: Pay attention to the screenshot photo given below of the Special Entry Darshan Booking Page to grasp the idea better)

FIRST MENU: BLOCK TICKET

STEP 1: Select a date from the pop-up calendar given on the right side of the column “Darshan Date”. (Marked in the photo placed below)

Note: The date will be in MM/DD/YY format. (So if you chose December 25, it will be like 12/25). It is a bit confusing for we Indians as we are not used to the U.S date format. So take care.

STEP 2: Check availability

Note: It is marked in different colors, i.e. GREEN = Available; RED = Quota Full; BLUE = Quota Not Released and WHITE = Slot Not Available. (See the photo given below).

Some slots might have already filled. You can find the position of availability by looking at the right side of the screen. Once, you find your choice of time slot, you need to ensure it is available or not. If available, you can select it by ‘ticking’. The amount will be automatically calculated, as per the number of persons you opt and displayed on the screen.

STEP 3: Select No. of Persons (Marked in the screenshot placed below)

Note: You can book for up to six persons.

STEP 4: Click CONTINUE.

SECOND MENU: PILGRIM INFORMATION

Now, you are automatically taken to another menu for entering “Your Personal Information”. Provide the required information and upload your photo. It is simple and easy. Photo uploading may be a little irritating. Edit photo size, if need be. (Please see the photo below). Now the photo of the person who books the tickets needs only to upload his photo. Earlier, we had to upload all pilgrims' photo.

THIRD MENU: PAYMENT OPTION

In this menu, you will see three Bank option, i.e. PNB, ICICI and Andhra Bank.

STEP: 1: Select Bank (PNB or Andhra Bank or ICICI) (See the marked screenshot below)

NOTE: For Banks other than PNB, you need to select Andhra Bank or ICICI as it is the 'Gateway' to all other banks for payment purpose. You cannot take advantage of your net banking here. Instead, opt for Debit or Credit Card payment. Credit Card will be quicker.

STEP: 2: Select Debit or Credit Card (and continue with the usual payment process).

STEP: 3: Click PROCEED TO PAYMENT button.

FOURTH MENU: CONFIRMATION

After the payment option, what you just to do is Click the PROCEED TO PAYMENT button. Then you are automatically taken to the CONFIRMATION page. Now, all you have to do is just click the PRINT option. Your confirmation page or Special Entry Darshan Receipt will be opened. Take the print out from the very same screen and keep two copies with you for a smooth darshan.

Note: The receipt will show all valid information like the amount you paid, the name of the pilgrim who booked the ticket, No. of persons, ID Card No., the time and venue to report at, and the booked date and time along with your photo as well that of your companion. You need to carry 2 copies of the receipt and the ID card (in original) used for booking the ticket to show at the time of darshan. Please read the SED Receipt carefully as it has listed some important information to the pilgrim.

This Video will help you to book online ticket for Darshan

Some Important Information to the Pilgrims

  • Pilgrims should come with two printouts of the Darshan Receipt along with original proof of ID of all the persons and produce one at VQC-I for verification to get entry for Darshan and the other one for collecting the 'prasadam'.
  • All bookings are FINAL: Postponement/advancement/cancellation/refund is not allowed.
  • The pilgrims should not carry any luggage/cell phones/electronic gadgets while reporting at TB Cottage-129.
  • At the time of entry, the pilgrim shall produce the same ID used at the time of booking. Age proof shall be produced for children below 12 years to gain entry free of cost.
  • You can collect Two Laddus per person before 7 AM of the following day of Darshan.
  • Pilgrim can contact 0877-227 7777/223 3333 for any enquiries/information.

eSudarsanam

This is the second and most popular method for booking a trouble free darshan. It costs you Rs.50/- per head. Admission for five persons can be blocked in a single booking through eSudarsanam. Though earlier they allowed only one-time slot from 5 to 6 pm; now the rule is relaxed and you can have 'darshanam' at any time between 5 pm to 10 pm (except 6-7 pm). Currently, the following time slots are open for eSudarsanam.

05-06 pm

07-08 pm and

08-09 pm

Note: They regularly change these time schedules depending upon the rush and for other administrative purposes. So keep on watching the official site. Anyhow, I have been regularly observing these changes and make necessary edits accordingly.

You need to keep on changing your date option to book a ticket as the screen always shows the position as "Quota Full".

How to Book eSudarsanam

To book eSudarsanam, the steps are same as that of SED option detailed above. The only difference here is the 'darshan' time starts at 5 pm and ends at 10 pm (each carries one hour slot). Please note that no darshan is allowed between 6 - 7 pm. Further, you have an advantage here that through this scheme pilgrims can book darshan minimum of 1 day in advance and maximum of 56 days. Also, two darshan bookings are allowed for one day with a maximum of 5 persons per booking. This too involves four step procedures like Block Ticket, Pilgrim Information, Payment, and Confirmation. Please see the screenshot of eSudarsanam given above to grasp a better idea.

Sunil Kumar Kunnoth (author) from Calicut (Kozhikode, South India) on February 23, 2016:

To receive laddu, you need to present the receipt at the counter. I think you cannot laddus next day though they may sometimes allow change in darshan time same day itself. For example, if your darshan time is 2 pm and reporting time is 1 pm. but you have reached there 3 pm only. In such case, if you request with genuine reason, normally they allow you to have darshan at a later time too but in the same day itself. No postponement.

chintan on February 18, 2016:

hi i have booked 2 seegra darshan tickets on march 12th for morning quota including 4 additional laddus. i am not able to make darshan that day because i will be reaching there by 12th march evening. so i again booked tickets for the next day morning.

my question is can i get prasadam on the same day evening. in case if i cant make darshan? do i need any stamp to collect laddus?

if i can i collect laddus, can i collect the laddus next day?

thanks in advance.

I have booked for Kalyanotsavam for 18th Feb 2016. But my (main person) photo doesn't appear on the receipt. Just a cross mark appears there, is there any way I can rectify this !!

Sunil Kumar Kunnoth (author) from Calicut (Kozhikode, South India) on December 11, 2015:

@Prathima, though they insist on the production of original ID used for booking online ticket, I think it won't make much issues there if you can produce some other valid document in original to prove your identity like the licence, Passport, PAN or Adhaar card. (any one). The card of the person who booked the tickets are what they insist on and no need of other pilgrims id cards.

Sunil Kumar Kunnoth (author) from Calicut (Kozhikode, South India) on December 11, 2015:

@Rakesh, you can't get refund nor cancel the ticket. But you can get laddu (2 each per person), if you show the ticket there. If your tickets show five persons' details on the receipt, you will get 10 laddus.

Sunil Kumar Kunnoth (author) from Calicut (Kozhikode, South India) on October 26, 2015:

@Aakash, be cool and don't panic. When you have driving licence, there is no problem. They insist for an ID card with a photo. It may be Aadhar, voter's ID or your Driving licence also. They don't ask ID card of all the people who travel with you. They just ask to produce the ID card of the person, who booked the ticket. So please carry one valid card with you. Also try to wear traditional dress. Hope you will have a pleasant and comfortable darshan at Tirupati.

@Sandip, In Tirumala, finding accommodation is tough and there it is controlled by TTD and all their lodging facilities can be booked online in advance. I didn't see any private participation there. So better, you find lodging at Tirupati, where it is available in plenty and cheap too. Also to visit other attractions around the temple city, staying at Tirupati will be fine.

I want to get some ph number of hotels in tirumala. Which will be cheaf.

@Bharath, Regarding ID card, they are not insisting on showing it but definitely check that of the person, who booked the Darshan. It means if you have booked Darshan for four people using your card, what they mainly demand is your Card not that of the other three members. But it will be fine and safe if you keep the card other members too handy. Also, ID is not required for children below 12 years old.

Bharath on July 02, 2015:

Thanks cheta... I want to know whether ID card is necessary for all (i.e) for 4 members. Is it necessary to show the ID cards? please do reply soon...thanks

@Bharath, there is separate section for SED tickets there at the temple premises and certain outlets as notified by the authority. On the time taken for darshan, I think you can have darshan within 45 minutes to 2 hours. It depends. But My experience shows that it never takes more than 2 hours.

@Ranga

I receive a lot of queries like the one as you raised here. I request you all to check your booking status (of any TTD online bookings) from the BOOKING HISTORY screen. It will clearly state whether your transaction is success or failure. Most of the people never take care of this helping element. So please do check always the Booking history page. They will never give you refund nor allow any postponement. So better we take extra care while booking.

@Amit,

You asked: Can I make payment using SBI Debit card? Or we must have PNB or citi bank card only?

Answer: Yes you can make payment using SBI Debit Card. It necessarily need not be SBI or Citi Bank. Debit/Credit Cards as well Net banking are ok..

For Banks other than PNB, you need to select Citi as it is the 'Gateway' to all other banks for payment purpose. You cannot take advantage of your net banking here. Instead opt for Debit or Credit Card payment. Credit Card will be quicker.

@mounika, I am sorry with you. It is their rule that no cancellation and no refund. I wonder why it happened so. You should have been alerted at least by the time you make payment. I have clearly illustrated all the points in my article. I had mentioned well that "All bookings are FINAL: Postponement/advancement/cancellation/refund is not allowed".

The one solution we can ask for is postponement of the darshan for another day but unfortunately they don't allow that too. Why you didn't take note these points while booking? If you can, please do write them giving all these details ask them to give you a relief since you lost some money. Please try. God Balaji help you!

Still sometimes they reserve the slots for some special reasons or seasons, it is their decision and an administrative matter and as such I can't give you an exact reply. You can normally book well in advance of a period of 28 days.

Nirmita on March 25, 2015:

When will the "quota not released" slot get released?

Sunil Kumar Kunnoth (author) from Calicut (Kozhikode, South India) on March 25, 2015:

Hi Ranga,

Thank you for the visit and comments. And to answer your queries, 1) your photo will definitely be appeared in the print out of receipt. If you have booked for 5 persons, photos of all these 5 will be appeared, and 2) Visa and Master cards are accepted for online payment. Do try. Wish you a happy and comfortable darshan.

Thank you for visiting my page. I already posted answer for your query.

Dear Babu

If you book SDE of Rs.300/-, darshan is possible within one hour. It is the best option for senior citizens. Still they are giving preference to aged people even in SDE queue. You just speak with the security persons there and they will give you some sort of preference. But in my opinion it is easy and comfortable if you opt for Rd.300 ticket rather than Rs.50/- ticket. Wish you a comfortable darshan.

Sunil Kumar Kunnoth (author) from Calicut (Kozhikode, South India) on March 05, 2015:

Hi Nitin

You need not enter the details of children below 12 and their number is not counted for online booking purpose as well for spot purchase of tickets.

Nitin on March 02, 2015:

A small question, during online booking for special Entry Darshan , do we need to enter the details of children who are below 12 years ? In other words, when selecting number of persons for booking, should count of children below 12, is to be included in the number of persons. Can you please elaborate exactly on this.

How you make payment? Please let me know. Also did you try their Helpline no. for clarification?

santhosh on February 16, 2015:

i have done several timesin booking ttd wbsite.. but i am getting 'transaction failed' in payment.. can any one help me...

Sunil Kumar Kunnoth (author) from Calicut (Kozhikode, South India) on February 11, 2015:

That is a strange situation. Did you upload your photo? If you had, it must be appeared on the receipt. Does it contain all other valid things as I stated in my article? Then, you can do two things, either contact TTD on their Helpline Nos. or report yourself at the allotted time and convince the matter there. They will take your photograph from there and will definitely allow you for Darshan. But don't forget to carry your ID proof which you used for booking SDE. Wish you a peaceful darshan!

sudha on February 11, 2015:

In my recipt photo is not available. Wat to do know? Whether this recipt is valid or not.

Sunil Kumar Kunnoth (author) from Calicut (Kozhikode, South India) on February 09, 2015:

Actually what they ask is to report one hour before. It is clearly mentioned in the SED print out. For you the allotted time slot is 4-5. So you need to report even before 4. But sometimes they allow even if you reach later. I was allowed once even though I reported later. In case you reach there late, convince them your situation and request for allowing you to enter for darshan.

JUGAL on February 09, 2015:

If we have booked SED ticket of Rs.300 for time slot 4-5 on 22.02.2015 and we will reach at tirupati around 5-6 PM ?

Can we go for balaji darshan at that time or what is the option we will do.

sakthi vasan on February 07, 2015:

Thanks for your valuable information bro...

Sunil Kumar Kunnoth (author) from Calicut (Kozhikode, South India) on February 07, 2015:

Dear Sakithi Vasan, For a single user, they allow booking for 6 persons only. But I think by creating multiple accounts, say two or three, you can book for more people. They mainly check the IP address of the system. So may be you can login from a different computer using the same ID. Anyhow it is better you contact the authority at their helpline Nos. 1) 0877-2277777 and 2) 0877-2233333.

sakthi vasan on February 07, 2015:

Brother,

Help me out .. I need to take 15 tickets for sed entry .. Whether it is possibile in single user on same day of booking..
