Experienced and avid traveller here for helping out people just like him
COVID-19, the pandemic that nobody thought could be right around the corner, to be honest when it first came into existence, I out of all the people was optimistic enough, that this thing could be prevented, in a very efficient way and maybe it will take somewhat around 2 to 3 days or weeks to get over this kind of a pandemic. Heck, I was not even thinking to call it a pandemic. And it wasn't even me who is thinking like this, it was almost the whole world who had their hopes high that this is not something to be worried about, and this thing will be taken care of effectively and immediately and the whole world would be able to overcome this kind of disease within few weeks. But we were all wrong.
During a short period, what started with China was around the whole world now. At first, we all thought that it can be controlled, and, to be honest, the things that we were looking at, were sufficient enough to make us believe so. At first, everything was under control the number of patients was not rising and the way governments were taking it so seriously was promising enough to make us believe that this thing can be contained within a short period of time. But the months went by, and we were eyewitnesses to some of the historical changes in our lives, that have changed the way how we are looking at things today and that has changed our whole perspective towards life.
During the time of writing this, it has been almost 11 months in our Covid-19 world. And we have seen many changes, changes like people losing jobs, people losing their loved ones and a lot of suffering of the people with not so strong socio-economic backgrounds. Many industries have been hit by this pandemic, from huge tech companies and tech startups to automobile industries, and even small businesses have been facing this tragedy of not being able to work at all. This has proven to be a very hard time for our economy as well, and many experts believe that this could be a recession that will take a lot of time to recover back from, but out of all the hardest-hit industries, is the travel industry, with not even the single chance of getting any work for its employees at all.
There are literally no planes in the sky, no planes at the airport, no trains on the tracks, and not even on the stations, there are no cabs on the road as well. Everything that you can think of even minutely related to traveling has been closed. And this has been going on for at least several months now.
During the course of a few months, there have been several companies that have filed for bankruptcy as well. Overall the condition of the travel industry as a whole is not good at all, and that's pretty much understandable, COVID-19 is a kind of a virus that doesn't know of any boundaries, it is not bounded by any kind of geographical borders or doesn't it discriminate on the basis of caste, color or religion, and it can happen to pretty much anyone. And it's due to this reason the pilots, who should have been on the plane and probably even flying it, are now sitting at home and the captain of the cruise ships are also doing the same and their crews as well.
Overall, the condition is not good, and there's not more emphasis that I can put on this subject, and it's not going to improve in the near future as well. The travel industry as a whole is going to take time to recover and at this time there are so many key factors that will play a role in it, like, the economic crash that most of the nations are either going to face or are facing right now, or due to the fact that even if a specific nation is able to completely control the pandemic situation, who knows how many countries the people of that specific country will be able to visit, or let alone visiting the other country, will they be able to visit their neighboring state or not. there are thousands of questions that are going in everyone's mind.
There will be even factors like which country has fully recovered or even partially recovered from this, and even after that, there are so many things for the travelers to keep in mind before they visit any country in the future, as this is going to be our new reality, the new world, the new normal.
It's going to take a lot of time for things to get back to as they were, maybe a few months or a few years, but before that, there are going to be so many new rules adding up to our travel guides around the world such as new vaccines and so many things that we won't be able to imagine. And the world after this is also going to change, either for good or for bad, no one knows, but I guess that's a topic for another day.
