Dehradun is the most happening hilly place in India.Once it was the part of Uttarpradesh.After forming a new state of Uttaranchal(Now is known as Uttarakhand) Dehredun has been declared it's capital.It is also known as Doon Valley. as it is situated between the front ranges of the Himalayas and the Shivalik Hills.Dehradun also has some historical importance.During the British rule they built various buildings here.

Dehra dun is also famous for it's green look.

Most Famous Institutions:-

Indian Military Academy

Forest Research Institute

Doon School

How to get there?

Dehra dun is famous among Tourists and they want to stay here.Dehradun is connected by road and train with whole of India.One could get there by road or by train.From Delhi distance is 245 kilometer

Places to worth seeing

There are various places to worth visiting like following-

F.R.I :-It is also known as Forest Research Institute.The British started this F.R.I in the twentieth century.F.R.I. is the one of the best institutes on forest sciences in the world.You could visit here in a beautiful museum inside the campus.Here you can find a wide verities of flowers and and rare qualities of colors.

Opening Time- 9 A.M. TO 4 P.M.

Sundays- closed

Entry charges- none

Sahastra Dhara:-

As name suggests sahastra dara means in Hindi-thousand of streams of water.It is 14 kilometer away from Dehradun .It is situated in the eastward of the city.It is known as nice picnic spot.People use stream water as remedy of various skin deceases.

Chakrata ;-Chakrata is known as a primarily tribal area.It is surround by thick forests.It is situated few kilometer away from dehradun.Chakrata is known as hill station.People come to see here snow clad mountains.The tourists like to stay here.

Market places:-Paltan bazar and Rajpur Road are most promising markets in Dehradun. You could buy any kind of things here.

Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology:-Ii is also worth seeing place in Dehradun.The institute has it's own museum. Opening time- 9AM TO 4 P.M.(Except Sunday).

Best time to visit:-Whole year except in the rainy season.Any way October to March is considered the best time to visit.
