The enchanting Palolem Beach, Goa

You are on a romantic trip with your loved one. What do you prefer the most while spending your precious moments with your soul mate? No doubt, it is solitude and utmost privacy. What may you search for? An exotic location with matching ambiance. Right? Then proceed. Your right destination is Palolem Beach in Goa.

Goa, as you know, is a paradise for party-lovers. People love peace and celebration reach Goa. It has all ingredients required for a popular travel spot. Palolem has a very significant importance in Goa's touristic features.

Tourists from across the world arrive in Goa. More than 10% of the total tourists flying to India make it sure to include Goa in their travel plans. But most of them spend their vacation on crowded beaches or head for visiting Churches, Temples and Museum. It is okay as they do offer a wonderful travel experience.

But I suggest it is time to make a shift in your travel plans. I hope, you might have covered both the South and North part of Goa. Good. You are a satisfied traveler. Still you can enjoy more in Goa. One more beautiful location yet stands out of your sight or itinerary. It is still unexplored and unpolluted. To complete our Goan experience, we need to cover that also.

Palolem Beach, I am sure you will love it and thankful to me for pointing this beauty spot to your attention. You stay there for a few days. My sincere request is spent at least 24 hours near the beach. Make sure you are there to witness both the sunset and sunrise.

The Features of Palolem Beach

The beach is a perfect crescent shape bay with fine powdery white sand at the north end and grain golden sand at the south end. It stretches to an area of roughly 1.5 km. Clear blue waters, the greenery on the beach, I am sure this would make you excited. You must be thrilled when you happened to see some hills on an island inside the waters. What a fantastic view! Imagine some forest inside a sea, this is what fascinated me the most here. The waters are cool, calm and a real treat to our eyes.

We twelve friends hired a motorized open boat and made a wonderful journey. How relaxing it was. We entered some kilometers into the sea. Observing the Dolphins on the water was superb. We clicked photos. The area we ventured was the 'playing ground' of Dolphins. That must have been the reason the ride is called Dolphin Safari by the travel agents. Covering the big hill on the sea was exciting. Never had I found such a greenery inside a sea.

Back on the land, we spent hours on the white sand. Mere looking at the waters, the hills or observing the water sports, you feel relaxed. The real delight was after the sunset. When the atmosphere becomes dark, the beach turns to a different style and mood. It shifts to a romantic world. Your moods too go the same way. You may become a poet or a singer.

The huts or shacks selling sea foods, snacks are ready to welcome the customers. The chairs and tables are arranged. With mouth-watering gourmet cuisines and fine drinks, you are going to please your taste buds. Foods of all varieties and lands are there. You just order they serve. You can enjoy everything provided you have enough bucks in your pocket.

The table is ready, chairs are set. The candle is lit. It is time for a romantic chat. In the darkness, the small candles give you dim light. It boosts your spirit. The sea, its cool waves, the refreshing wind.....all just before your sparkling eyes. The ambiance is very romantic, you are automatically taken to a world of fantasy. Your eyes see the silver stars on the sky. The breeze do play its role neatly.

The hot and spicy food are served on the table. We need something extra before biting it. We wish something special to enhance our already set mood. Let's try some chilly beers. Not enough? Then have some cocktails. Cheers! We can have it slowly and silently. Yes, it is catching. Your energy level is being got fuelled. We are now in our own world. No work pressure, no tension. Nobody to stare at us or disturb our mood. Let's be in that fantastic world of fantasy for a few hours. Wow! You are too excited. You slowly feel the value of what this romantic concept called 'Candle Light Dinner'. There is a candle, so the darkness is eliminated. There is light, so brightness is in. There is dinner, so appetite is exhausted.

Are you alone? Why worry? Put your earphone. Listening to some melodies or give your ear to the melody of nature. If you love solitude, just remain idle by simply sitting. If your gang is around you, chat simply but slowly. Silence is the signature of Palolem Beach. So please maintain that.

Palolem Beach is traditionally a fishermen village. Hence, Government doesn't allow loud music after 10 pm here. Don't worry just go to 'Silent Noise'. It is a club situated on the top of a hill surrounded by the sea. Here you can listen to DJs performance in high volume but in a headphone! This is the rule, you have to observe. The party usually runs only on Saturdays.

The seafood are stocked in plenty and easily available at the shacks at the beach. You can choose some and ask them to serve. It is served hot within a few minutes.

For Accommodation

No problem. For your pleasant stay, they have plenty of temporary huts. The ambiance of huts too is not different. You can spend your time the way you love it. Reading, chatting, surfing on your Laptop or again sipping some Can Beers.

Activities

Palolem is ideal for sunbathing, swimming or to engage in some water sports activities. For sightseeing around, you can take motorbikes or bicycles on rent. Many tourists opt this method. It is cheap too.

Other Attractions

  • Honeymoon Island: 20 minutes ride distance from the beach
  • Butterfly Island: Two mountains intersect and take a Butterfly like shape. hence the name.
  • Silent Noise: At Neptune Point on the far south side of the beach. Best for partying.

When compared to other beaches, Palolem is less crowded and unpolluted. It is the favorite choice of International tourists. Domestic travelers (read Indians) are too less. The only thing you may worry is the cost of food. My suggestion, you try some food joints outside the beach. The rate for stay and food will come down during the off-season. But December, January being peak season, getting accommodation is tough and will cost you more. So book in advance.

Palolem Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I have so far seen in India. The blue waters, beautiful lush landscape, total solitude, you have plenty of reasons for a second visit to the beach. After my visit, I had no doubt why it is called a 'Paradise Beach'. One tourist I met on the Madgaon Railway station told me it had been voted to be among the 10 best beaches in the world. I am not sure if he is right. But one thing is extra sure for me, it is too good. I will definitely recommend Palolem Beach for a different experience.

And I will come again another day.

Sunil, your comments about Goa is appreciable. Once in a year I like to visit Goa.

Goa is an inspiration for tourists. But keralites visit Goa for cheap liquor and wandering on the seashore looking others.

Appreciate your comments with pleasure. Goa is one of the most fascinating tourist spots in India. Its culture is different and vibrant thanks to the Portuguese influence for nearly five centuries. I have done a couple of hubs on Goa. Please find the same and read it all before you plan your journey. Thanks for your kind words.

Great hub of one of India´s most famous beaches. Why don´t you try placing your Amazon ads in the middle of the hub and under pictures. I got this tip from the forum section from a professional hubber that will evaluate 2 aspects from your hubs.

Follow this link and ask for your hubs to be evaluated: https://hubpages.com/forum/topic/111641
