A Bangkok Guide to Places in Hangover 2 Movie

A tour of places the Wolfpack Visited in Bangkok

2011's summer blockbuster hit movie the Hangover 2 will certainly peak the interests of those who have seen the film into visiting Bangkok's go go bars. And as the characters Phil, Stu and Alan have experienced; Bangkok can really be a crazy place for an unplanned bachelor party in Southeast Asia's sin city.

For those who are planning a bachelor party in Bangkok and wondering where the Wolfpack visited you will find it all here. From the streets of Bangkok to certain go go bars and red light districts we'll follow a path the Wolfpack took through this amazing city.

Though let's cross our fingers that your bachelor party in Bangkok will be a whole lot less eventful and troublesome.

Go go bars in Hangover 2

A few of the scenes in Hangover 2 were actually shot on site in Bangkok's red light districts though the interiors of the go go bars were filmed back in the States. Except for photos seen in the end credits from pictures on an iPhone revealed in the time they forgot.

The first go go bar was filmed outside of Soi Cowboy at Cactus Bar, but it's during the day time and the exterior was remodeled so it may not look the same now. Though it would be wise if the bar's owner kept the unique neon sign to cash in on the movies popularity.

Soi Cowboy is a small narrow strip right in the heart of Bangkok's commercial district, right by the intersection of Asoke and Sukhumvit road junction. This is an area that is heavily traveled by tourists. It's not the biggest red light district but there are at least a few dozen go go bars to keep a bachelor party group well entertained from Thai bar girls.

Bangkok's red light districts are quite safe places to have fun in for a bachelor party. Just don't go too far because there is security inside. And it wouldn't hurt to have a few designated guys in the party sober especially when it's time to pay for the bar bill. The practice of padding the bar bill in go go bars is not a common occurrence but it can happen.

Beer and hard liquor in Bangkok's go go bars are not expensive compared to a strip club in Las Vegas. Expect to pay about 180 Baht for a bottle of Heineken and a bit less for a local brew. Draft beers are better priced and most go go bars in Bangkok does have happy hours.

This is a nighttime scene where the guys in Hangover started a riot. It took place on Sukhumvit Soi 7/1 but it won't look exactly the same way as it does in the film thanks to movie props. Though the location isn't technically a red light district, Sukhumvit Soi 7/1 does have a couple of naughty bars including a popular brothel called Eden Club.

In the movie Stu got a facial tribal tattoo similar to the one on Mike Tyson's face. Though there are no tattoo parlors on that particular section you can get a temporary one for the groom. Or you can go for a real one since there are quite a few tattoo parlors throughout Bangkok.

A typical sex show menu in Patpong

After watching the first Hangover movie we all knew that their had to be pictures showing what really happened during the night before. Well it turned out they paid a visit to one of Bangkok's nastiest form of entertainment, the ping pong shows.

Ping pong shows can only be found in Patpong Soi 2, which is right inside Patpong red light district. There are plenty of touts who advertise for these establishments and they are usually holding some type of menu with prices and show descriptions. And there are many types of sex shows that I can not go into because they are graphic.

Also in the movie there was a hysterical scene where it revealed that Stu had a sexual encounter with a ladyboy. And Patpong red light district on Patpong 2 have quite a few go go bars employing ladyboys. Though King's Castle 3 is the only go go bar in Patpong employing an all ladyboy lineup.
