4 Types of Destinations Which Are Unfriendly for Kids

I love traveling. People of all ages love to travel. So do kids. This hub describes the types of places one must avoid taking their kids to.

Traveling is love to many travel enthusiasts. People love to explore the globe either in groups or with friends and family. There are a few who are solo travelers too. There is a unique fun associated with each type of co-traveler whether it's a family member, a friend, lover, or a stranger.

If you are traveling with your kids, you are not only having a good family time but also making your child's childhood memorable by connecting him/her to the world's amazing destinations.

In this regard, there are a few precautions you have to take to ensure child safety while traveling. Moreover, you have to view the tourist spot you are planning to visit from a child's perspective. This means you have to wisely choose the places that your child will love and not the places where your child will get bored.

To simplify this, I'm mentioning below the 4 types of locations to avoid going, whenever you are out with your kids.

1. Pilgrimage

Yes, the holy places are worth watching for the kids too. Your kids will roll their eyeballs all over the interior of the temple or a church or any spiritual place.

But, if you include the pilgrimage or religious sites solely in your long tour then, in that case, your kids will lose the enthusiasm they had in the first place. Kids love fun-filled and curiosity spiking spots like animal parks, games, or amusement parks. Toddlers or kids are not born theists or atheists.

They are pure expressions of love. They will smile if they are feeling happy and they will cry when they are bored. If you carry them to a holy place for hours they won't get entertained as much as you are.

The child psychology tells that even if a kid gets to play with the favorite toy, he or she won't last playing it for months.

2. Historic Locations

Just like the pilgrimage spot, the historic spot alone can't be a memorable and unforgettable trip for a kid. For instance, in a historic museum, adults like us may widen our eyes with interest while listening about the weapons, the crowns, the utensils, or the drapery of the medieval era from a guide.

While a kid's mind won't be able to find something like this very amusing. They will be thinking about toys, sports, rides, or playing with the sand on the beach. Beware, if you are taking your children then you don't have to plan a tour completely occupied with historic destinations having hours of orientation tour through the historic towns or museums.

3. Adult Destinations

The above two places which are the historic destinations and the pilgrimages can be included in your tour up to a fair extent when you are with children. But you can't overdo them. However, you have to be cautious about adult destinations.

Either you have to completely avoid visiting them or you have to leave someone back with your kids in the hotel room. The recommended plan should be to avoid adult destinations completely.

If you want to visit places like nude beaches, adult resorts, strip clubs, or even the bars, it is useless to bring children with you as these places are banned for kids. But there are some adult locations where kids are not exactly banned but won't have anything to offer for a kid. Try not to visit such places with your young ones.

4. All sorts of Tedious Peregrination

Have you imagined as a child your parents took you on a long-lasting journey only to land at a boring picnic spot? (boring for your childish mind at that time). You must have hated your parents many days after that tour. While some parents are conscious about this, still some aren't.

They take their little princess or prince along with them. They ride their car through a massive dry land filled with unending winding roads. After a whole day of the tedious journey, they reach a place they feel good to go without considering whether their child will like it or not.

The expression on the face of their young ones is worth capturing when they arrive at the boring spot. By all means, avoid such tame tours.

The above 4 points are about some of the major locations to avoid going with children. You can easily discover which places you liked as a child and which places you hated as a child.

That's not enough though. You will also have to think from the viewpoint of your child which interests may differ from your interests when you were a child. There are countless kids-friendly locations that are widely spread all over the Earth.

They offer a great deal of bliss for innocent souls. Be a bit picky when it comes to kids. Pick colorful, dynamic, and fun-filled locations like the wildlife sanctuary, national park, amusement park, garden, or recreational activities for the little shavers. They will thank you and remember your parenting when they will have kids.

Yeah, that's how we were raised by the good type of parenting from our parents. Nowadays, some parents are busy with their smartphones and the kids may get bored. Singing the songs for long tours is a great way to spend quality family time with the kids.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on May 26, 2020:

I think that my parents did a great job mixing the fun items (from a kid's perspective) with other things of interest. When on long car trips in the past, we did a lot of singing as a family. We also tried to identify as many different license plates as we could and played similar games to pass the time. We did a lot of picnicking along the way to break up the time. I remember those days fondly.

Yes, Liz you told the truth. As children's view of looking at things is different than the adults, the parents must consider their child's viewpoint before deciding their travel destination.

Prantika Samanta from Kolkata, India on May 21, 2020:

Long hours of traveling make a kid restless and tired. I have seen some kids falling sick on the way to Gurudongmar Lake, but some of them doing absolutely fine. So, parents should take kids to low altitude places for a few days before traveling to high altitude places.

Liz Westwood from UK on May 21, 2020:

This brings back memories from my childhood. What adults might find interesting might not apply also to children.
