Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is over 260,000 square feet. And, the most exciting part is the different areas that show off the awesome underwater world.

Such as China, South America, Australia, and Southeast Asia, as well as the Cold Water Zone, Polar Zone, Sea and Shore. And, it also has Deep Ocean Zone and Special Exhibitions. Underwater life is another world to be enjoyed and we are so blessed to be able to enjoy our amazing aquariums. Since the opening in 2002 it has over 1 million visitors from China and around the world.

  • Number 11 is John G Shedd Aquarium was built in Chicago in 1930 that makes it 90 years old. This Aquarium leads the ways for many aquariums in the future because it was the first to have saltwater containment pods for birds, snakes and other creatures.Very popular was the aquatic mammal exhibit. It is located on Lake Michigan and boast of 2.2 million visitors per year.

  • Number 10 is Oceanografic in Spain. This aquarium is part of a complex known as the City of Arts and Sciences. The Aquarium has nine towers which hold special creatures that amazed all the visitors every year. It claims it has lost 64.3 % of its visitors per year and now has counted 2.018 million in March of 2020.

  • Number 9 is Aqua Planet Jeju Is located in South Korea and it is the home of over 48,000 aquatic animals. Visitors explore the wonders of five seas which gives joy to the children as well as the adults, therefore an amazing experience for all. And, has an enormous range of animals from all over the world including fish, sharks, crustaceans, penguin, and sea lion including numerous others.The doors opened to the public on July 14th 2012. No information on the Internet on the number of visitors per year that I could find.

  • Number 8 is Dubai Aquarium that is located in Dubai Mall, which is one of the largest shopping centers in the world. It boasted of 33,000 creatures 140 species. It has 37 million visitors in the first year of operation in 2009. I would say this is the zenith reason of why most people visit Dubai.
  • I thought Dubai was in India--I need to travel more.

Kenting National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquariums

  • Number 7 is Kenting National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquariums is located in Checheng Township, Pingtung Country, on the north-west corner of Kenting National Park, in Taiwan. It is in a water park which sounds like a plus for a family vacation. It is divided into three sections, Waters of Taiwan, Coral Kingdom Pavilion and the World Waters Pavilion.

Opening date was February 25th 2000 and it also has the largest underwater tunnel in Asia. No information on how many visitors per year that I could find.

Osaka Aquarium Kalyukan is located in Japan near Osaka Bay.

  • Number 6 is Osaka Aquarium Kalyukan is located in Japan near Osaka Bay. It is one of the largest public aquariums in the world, and has 16 Exhibited and 27 Different Tanks. It opened in May, 1990 and was built on 26,570 square meters. They had 2.7 million Visitors annually, 25% which came from abroad. It also features a Night Aquarium program every day from 5 p.m..

Osaka Aquarium Kalyukan is located in Japan near Osaka Bay.

The Cube Oceanarium is in China

  • Number 5 is The Cube Oceanarium is Located in Shuangliu County, Chengdu, China) A public aquarium is a gorgeous enlightening wonderland. It is located in Seaside City in the Jiaolong Port. It was built in February 2015—it boasts over 33,000 different marine life specimens including over 400 species. And, it has the biggest Jelly Fish in the world.

The aquarium has about 1 million visitors per year.

  • Number 4 is Okinawa Churaumi- is located in the Ocean Expo Park Area. It opened in November 2002 designed by Yukifusa Kouba. It is known as the ‘Best Loved Aquarium in Japan. This well-loved aquarium is visited by more than 3 million visitors per year.

  • Number 3 is S.E.A. Aquarium (South-East Asia Aquarium) Located on Sentosa Island in Singapore’s Marine Life Park. It is ginormous and has the largest collection of Manta Rays including the Giant Oceanic Manta Ray. A mind-blowing built aquarium- it has 10 different zones—which features marine life from particular habitats from around the world. It’s amazing with the ‘Open Ocean Tank’ that is home to 50,000 creatures collected from the seas and oceans of our earth. It was built November 22nd, 2012

  • Number 2 is Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta Georgia USA—It opened in 2005 and was considered the largest aquarium in the world until 2012 it became the 3rd, after the Marine Life Park in Singapore and the Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in China. It is located in down town Atlanta on land donated by The Coca-Cola Company (Thank you and I hope to visit it one day), just north of Centennial Olympic Park. This wonderland would probably never have happened if not for a wonderful man named Bernard Marcus who is 91 years old and was Co-Founder of Home Depot.

  • Number 1 is Chimelong Ocean Kingdom is a Theme Park in China. It is located in Hengqin, Zhuhai People’s Republic of China. It opened on January 28th 2014. In 2018 it had 10.83 visitors. The first phase of the park cost 10 billion to build. To appreciate all it has to offer the visitors one would need to visit and I am sure I will never go to China.
