Make sure the kids tablet has got safe browsing.

It is very important to decide first and foremost if you want a tablet that has got internet access, as this will require extra controls to keep your child safe online. Most kids tablets with internet access has got safe browsing capabilities to ensure the young ones are safe online. You also have the option to buy a tablet without any internet access like for example the LeapPad. This has got its own games and applications. It might however cause some frustrations for your kids if they want to play the same trending games currently being played by their friends on Android or Apple devices. The ideal solution is to get a tablet where you as the parent can setup your child's tablet from an applications, games and reading material point of view. Luckily Amazon has recently released a kids Fire tablet where you can actually do exactly that. This item is in my opinion the most important when selecting a tablet for your child.

It is too big Mommy!

Tablet Size is very important, when it comes to buying a tablet for kids.

This is another classic misconception, when it comes to buying a tablet. Buying a 9.7 or 10.1 inch tablet for 7 year old might not be the best option. As they are holding the tablet with both hands when playing games, it becomes extremely uncomfortable when the tablet is too big. The max size that will still be bearable is possibly 8 inches, but you will have gauge your child's size, age, strength and purpose for buying the tablet when making your selection. I prefer to stick to a 7 inch tablet .

It is too heavy Mommy!

Tablet weight, sometimes overlooked, but very important.

The importance of tablet weight is sometimes overlooked. It is very important that the tablet is not too heavy for your little one. Kids prefer to hold the tablet with both hands when playing most games. Many games are gyro sensor aware, so you need to move the tablet in the direction the game character has to move in. If the tablet is too heavy, it can be detrimental to your child's wrists. Look for a tablet that does not weigh more than 650 g.

The battery is flat again, Mommy!

Battery life can be a big let-down.

It is important to look out for a tablet with a good battery life, especially when buying one for your child. You wouldn't want your child to be involved in charging a tablet, due to the possible dangers relating to electricity. It is therefore important that the tablet can keep its charge for a considerable time. Be on the lookout for the battery life quoted on the tablet reviews. Look for a battery strength of 5000 mAh + upwards.

It is too slow Mommy!

Look for a good Processor, even if it is for your child.

It is important to not buy a tablet that is too slow, as you are only buying it for your child as a "toy." I made this mistake when I bought my kids each their first tablets. I didn't want to spend too much, but in trying to be frugal, I ended up causing my kids endless frustration due to application loading extremely slow and in some cases just being too slow to be enjoyed to its full potential. Do not buy anything that has got a processor speed of slower than 1.2 gHz . It is also important to look for a Quad core or at minimum a Dual core processor.

The screen is fuzzy, Mommy!

Screen quality - very important for the little ones!

Purchasing a tablet with good screen quality is almost as important as purchasing a tablet with good battery life. Lookout for at minimum 1080p quality with possible IPS screen quality if you can afford it. (IPS is functionality that assist in viewing the screen clearly from various viewing angles.)
