Microsoft Word is your first to begin with, and LibreOffice, or Open Office, the Notepad, and TextEdit for Mac OS. This works when you are not online. However, if you try to make your life easier by working online, it could be your best choice. You can create your work directly through your window browser

I begin with Google Docs: I use Google Docs daily.

Hi FlourishAnyway It depends on what you want to do and being pretty basic is no problem, my dear. Thank you very much for stopping by.

Hi Ann I am glad you find Writing Tools for All Writers useful. Hope all is well with you. I researched many applications to improve my writing and looks like it is working well thus far. Thank you for sharing your views always appreciated.

Ann Carr from SW England on March 13, 2021:

You've provided all sorts of useful information here, Devika. I hadn't heard of many of them either!

I use an iMac for my writing, so Apple software is my thing. I find that the free application 'Pages' is good. It's what I use to do all my drafts and then I copy and paste to HP or whatever, which is simple.

I do have a Twitter account but don't use it any more - it's interesting that you suggest this for marketing so I'll keep that in mind.

Hi Denise I have Grammarly and didn't mention it. I should have. Thank you for sharing that and I appreciate your time.

Denise McGill from Fresno CA on March 12, 2021:

I find it is always best to write each article and blog using another program so that if that platform goes down I still have my complete articles saved elsewhere. Have you heard of Grammarly? I have a free version and really like it on my computer. The free version corrects my spelling and some grammar. The paid version corrects all grammar problems and even helps wording sentences.

Blessings,

Denise

manatita44 from london on March 12, 2021:

Nice and informative article Devika.

Thank you for sharing this helpful information.

Ravi Rajan from Mumbai on March 12, 2021:

very useful tools that can be used by all and most of the tools are also free of cost ( at least the basic version), thanks for sharing.

Liz Westwood from UK on March 12, 2021:

This is an interesting article, which contains useful information for writers. I have found Grammarly useful for checking American spellings, when writing on HubPages.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on March 12, 2021:

All good advice for fledgling writers. It's funny, but the older I get, and the more I write, the fewer tools I use to do my writing. I'm not sure why that is, and it is not to detract from your article, which is exactly accurate. It's just a personal reflection. :)
