Is the Bop Speaker Worth Your Money?
I bought this adorable little Bluetooth Speaker because I needed something small, portable, and waterproof for the beach. I was a bit skeptical at first, the price seemed too good to be true. I never actually made it to the beach, but once I started using the wireless Bop, I loved the sound quality and the fact that I could carry it anywhere.
This Little Speaker Is Awesome for the Pool, the Beach, Or the Shower
There are several different brands that offer this speaker. I prefer the Brookstone brand, which can be purchased through Amazon.
The water resistance is my favorite thing about this Bluetooth speaker.
The Bop has a specially designed suction cup that will stick to tile, marble and other slick services. If you're having issues making it stick, you probably just need to wet it down. Run a little water over the suction cup part only, and then try sticking it to the wall or whatever surface you're using.
While there is a silicone material that protects the inner technology, I still I avoid fully submerging the Bop or applying any moisture that is heavier than a light spray. It's water resistant for sure, but I personally don't wish to push the limits with it. As long as you take good care of it, your Bluetooth speaker will remain in good shape.
I've had my Bop for over 3 years and had no problems with it.
The Bop Remains and Functional for 7 to 10 Hours
While I only use it for 30 minutes to an hour at a time, I'd say I can go at least a week without charging the Bop. Unlike other wireless speakers, this ones batter doesn't continue to drain while it's turned off.
There have been occasions where I've gone weeks, even months without using it; my Bop always turns right on, and stays on for hours.
It's Easy to Set Up and Use
To charge your wireless Bop and to access the Bluetooth, all you need to do is pull open the protective latch. Inside, there is a port for charging and a switch to turn your device on and off.
Turn on the Bluetooth to your Bop first so that your connecting device can easily pick up a signal.
If you're using an iPhone for example, you'll immediately be able to see the Bop in your Bluetooth networks. I purchased mine sometime in 2015, so it comes up in my network as "Bop 2.0." Yours may be an updated version, if you're purchasing your Bop from another vendor it may be something completely different.
Once you're connected, your Bop will beep. Now you can listen to your music apps, work presentations, Youtube videos, movies, speeches, eBooks, or any other type of audio.
If you're in water, don't worry about getting out to adjust the volume or change a song.
Simply press the volume buttons on the front if you want to raise lower it. To forward or back on a song or playlist, just hold a volume button down in the direction you want to go. For example, if you want to go forward just hold down the plus sign, and of course the negative sign for back. Keep in mind this the way mine works, if you bought yours later it might be the opposite direction.
If you're having problems connecting the device, see the center button on the front. Hold it down to reset your device so that you can search for a different connection or remove it from your network list.
My Bluetooth Bop came with a 1 year manufacturers warranty that protects against defects, yours might too. If it does, make sure you hold onto the box, packaging, and all the paperwork that was included. Brookstone doesn't usually allow returns or exchanges without the box, but policies change frequently, so check the Amazon site for updates.
Have fun, and good luck!
My water resistant Bop has never let me down. After all this time, even if it did finally break due to wear and tear, I'd buy it again. I didn't just use it for the pool, it's also great for those of us who work long hours in jobs that aren't your typical setting. Kitchen preppers, web designers, and those who work in the office sometimes need a little music to help the day go by. I'd highly recommend this speaker to anyone.
