How to Sell on Ebay?

eBay v Amazon

Selling on eBay is not like it used to be because the competition is fierce. Amazon seems to have taken the market with Prime and free shipping. Other selling platforms like Esty, Shopify, Gumtree, and Depop are adding to the competition.

eBay Click and Collect

Selling on eBay is pretty simple. The website offers all sorts of information and selling tools to make sure you are successful. But there are no guarantees you will make money. So how do you know if selling on eBay is worth the time and effort?

I have succeeded in developing a way to follow a formula for success on eBay.

I sell a few items and make a few thousand dollars a year. I consider it passive income because I don't work hard to make enough money. The holidays around Christmas are always busy for me -- perfect for extra Christmas shopping money.

However, if you want to succeed on eBay, you still have to work hard to achieve your goals. Success happens when you decide to sell on eBay and then do it. Then, your customers will buy your products and happily pay through your PayPal account.

Customer Service Spectrum

I sell on eBay with comfort because I know their customer service spectrum includes a buyer protection plan. They watch my back when a seller or hacker is giving me trouble.

I call their phone number by clicking the "Help & Contact" field. I get a code and call the 1-800 number through a series of qualifications, and customer service is there within the allotted time indicated on the web page.

It is best to call in the middle of the afternoon or early morning. Other times, customer service is busy. If you have to call at a busy time, pick the option to have them contact you, so you are not waiting on hold.

I helped a woman who hadn't used eBay but wanted to sell a specialized product to a buyer I referred to her. Her items were bulky, and she appeared confused about the postal rate for the package's weight. I encourage her to call customer service and ask for assistance determining the postal rate. It was a success, and all went well.

How to Video

If you want to get serious about selling on eBay, I recommend finding a top-rated seller.

I met Dave Espino, who is a Top-Rated eBay Powerseller. I discovered that he developed a formula for making money on eBay. He is willing to share his success and advises anyone interested in selling on eBay.

He produced a training video to help others achieve the same success. According to him, he helped over 300,000 people. "I am proud that I've helped people learn how to make money on eBay. And, the video training I describe here is the perfect complement to Auctions For Income."

Those are some impressive stats. It would be best if you worked hard to be successful on eBay.

What eBay Sells The Most

Espino has been running his successful eBay business for over 17 years and has been a Powerseller ever since eBay first started the Powerseller program in 1999. He has money-making strategies from personal experience. "I've bought and sold thousands of vintage Hot Wheels (as well as all kinds of other collectibles) by using this system…."

Vintage Hot Wheels is a specialized product that is hard to find on traditional selling lines. Of course, it would do well on eBay. That is part of his formula, selling products that are specialized and hard to find.

How Does Selling on eBay Work?

Espino sold thousands of items on eBay, making up to $15,000 a week using strategies he is willing to share with others. For instance, the highest-dollar vintage Hot Wheels car Espino ever sold on eBay was a rare car. He paid $250 for it and then turned around and sold it for $9,500.

As I explained earlier, we know that selling on eBay is simple, and it takes about 10 to 15 minutes to place an item on the website. According to Espino, certain things, like vintage Hot Wheels, you sell to be successful. Understanding what to sell and how to sell makes selling on eBay worth the time and effort.

Rare Stamps Wanted

You pursue the eBay website and find the rare items that sell well. See if you can create a market with what you sell.

For example, my mother passed away and left me hundreds of rare stamps. I looked on eBay and discovered the stamps I inherited are selling for hundreds to thousands of dollars.

I will try selling my rare stamps because it doesn't cost anything to list an item if I don't exceed my monthly limit. You can do the same thing, find something rare, and sell it on eBay because it doesn't hurt to try it.

Thanks for the feedback. Ebay is an interesting breed that some folks make a great deal of money.

An ebay TRS seller on October 05, 2011:

I have been top rated for 18 months now and sales are around 500% more if you are top rated. But also the problems are 1000% more , You get targeted for "free items" , ebay call it internet shopping and say you have too add to the normal price to compensate for the 1% bad buyers , translates too " charge all honest people more due to the dodgey ones".

Ebay do have "hidden" rules on feedback that they wont tell you about , have had over 80% of mine removed completely. some of the wierd ones is " a buyer has a telephone number that doesnt connect " , well use a mobile , call them , leave it connected , contact ebay on the telephone ask them to do a check on the buyers number , comes back cannot connect , ebay remove the neg , and issue the buyer with a 72 hour update notice , which most ignore , recontact ebay 72 hours later saying the buyer failed to update number and ebay de register them , FUNNY !!!!.
