Why Strat Neck Pickup Not Working?

Here’s what you’ll need:

- A set of Alnico V magnets
- A screwdriver
- A bit of patience

Step 1: The first thing you need to do is remove the Strat’s neck plate. This will give you access to the neck pickup.

Step 2: Once the neck plate is off, use a screwdriver to remove the neck pickup’s cover. Be careful not to lose the small springs and screws that hold the pickup in place.

Step 3: Now that the neck pickup is exposed, you’ll see the magnet that has become demagnetized. Using a screwdriver, carefully remove the magnet from the pickup.

Step 4: Take your new Alnico V magnets and place them in the neck pickup. Be sure to orient the magnets so that they are facing the right way. Step 5: Now put the neck plate back on and screw it in place. Your Strat’s neck pickup should now be working properly.

If you’ve followed these steps and your Strat’s neck pickup still isn’t working, it’s possible that the magnet is not the only thing that’s demagnetized. In this case, you may need to replace the neck pickup entirely.
