How to Set up Parental Control on Huawei usb WiFi Router

Parental control must be an essential feature of any WiFi router but as you have already figured out that Huawei devices do not offer any such feature directly.

You may however exercise some form of parental control on your Huawei WiFi router or wingle by:

Restricting each individually connected device from accessing a specific site or
You can completely block a device from connecting to the WiFi network of Huawei router.

These procedures are tested to work on Huawei e7183 usb WiFi wingle and a similar approach will also work for other Huawei WiFi routers and wingles.

How to block a device from connecting to your Huawei WiFi Router?

You may completely block a specific device from connecting to the WiFi network of your Huawei wingle even if he knows the password.

Open the homepage of your wingle, usually it opens automatically when you plug in the wingle into a PC. Alternatively it can be accessed through the url: http://192.168.8.1/html/home.html
Click the statistics tab and log in.
Scroll down.
Here you will see all the devices connected to your WiFi router, with the option to block any one of them on the right hand side. You may unblock the device later.

How to restrict a connected device from accessing a specific site

You can restrict each device connected to your router from accessing any website using LAN IP filtering. (Connected device will be able to access all other sites except the one you have restricted.)

To Add a LAN IP filter:

Go to settings from the menu.
Select security and then LAN IP Filter from the menu on the right hand side.
Click add.

You will be asked to fill in seven fields like the one pictured below.
LAN and WAN ports should be set at 80.
Protocol should be TCP/UDP.
Status 'On'.

Add the site you want to restrict to the LAN IP filter list.

LAN IP address (the first field) is actually the IP address of the device which you want to prevent from accessing certain sites. You can find IP addresses of devices connected to your router from the statistics tab.
Scroll down and under the 'connected WLAN clients' heading, you will be able to see the devices connected along with their IP addresses. Statistics window is also pictured above.

Ping a site from command prompt to find its IP address.

Lastly you have to input the WAN IP address and this is the IP address of the site which you want to restrict.
Go to run and type cmd.
the command prompt window should open. Type 'ping www.example.com' and it will give you the WAN IP of the desired site, enter the same in the WAN IP address box.
Finally hit 'Ok' in the options box and you are done.
