Review of the iPhone 14 Plus: Apple's big-screen battery king
Apple's new plus-sized iPhone 14 expands on a tried-and-true design with a bigger screen and a longer-lasting battery, but at a higher cost.
The brand-new iPhone model for this year is the 14 Plus, which retails for £949 ($899/A$1,579), or £100 ($180) more than the base model 14 but less than the 14 Pro line.
Because of this, the Plus is the supersized Apple phone for users who only want a bigger screen and do not need additional cameras or other features. It is a larger version of the iPhone 14, but with the same internal hardware, display technology, cameras, materials, software, and interior design that makes repairs easy.
It is a bigger and heavier gadget now that the screen is 6.7 inches instead of 6.1 inches. Although it is more lighter and simpler to grasp than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, a Popsocket or other attachment would still be useful to help you maintain control of it.
The screen is attractive and offers a roomy display for video viewing, gaming, or simply enlarging the text for simpler reading. However, it lags rivals somewhat in terms of technology. In addition to having a lower peak brightness than the comparably sized Samsung Galaxy S22+, Google Pixel 7 Pro, or Apple's Pro model, it is limited to a 60Hz refresh rate, while competitors often feature 120Hz.
The 14 Plus's extremely long battery life is its key selling point. I can use the screen continuously for roughly 7.5 hours while using a variety of apps and services, and I can go for a solid three days between charges. This is longer than practically any other phone and an additional day over the standard iPhone 14.
