Key Points Which Help You To Measure Your Site’s SEO Performance

We all know that if you wanna rank your website on search engines SEO is your only option. But what is it? And even if I have said we know many only have heard of it.

Well, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. I think you have already guested or at least got a clue why it’s used for search engine ranking. If not, no problem let me explain.

As the name implies SEO is mainly referred to the methods and techniques that are used to prepare and present your website to the search engine in such a way so that you look appealing to them. All this is done so that you may get a better ranking on the search engine result page. Which is more simplistically and compact.

And if you think having quality content and unique images is all you need to rank your site then you are sadly mistaken. Yeah, they are valued by the search engine but that doesn’t mean that they are the only factors of ranking. Cause if they were the only factors then trust me if your site were to rank among the top 100 then that would have been a miracle. Because you aren’t the only one who has launched a platform. There are others as well. And their goal is the same as yours to achieve the top ranking in the search engine result pages or SERP for short.

On the other hand, if you were to follow SEO rules and prep and promote your site accordingly chance of your site going head to head with old monsters for their place ranking is possible. Having quality content and images may fall under SEO rule but using and sorting them strategically is where it shines the most.

For instance, suppose a new site like “Streaming Plug” was to write its description like this “Streaming Plug is systematically built for humans who are interested in the streaming platforms that are meant for online video streaming, live video, and audio streaming ” but since they followed SEO techniques thus they wrote it like this “Streaming Plug is a social media platform specifically designed for video streaming, live streaming, and broadcasts.”

What do you think is the difference between the two. When reading the first phrase you would think that it got weight with its complex word and descriptive nature but think about it how many will understand the meanings. Not all their visitor would be highly educated. On the other hand, the other statement holds the same meaning but in a more simplistic and compact way. Which I think almost all types of visitors would understand. From this simple comparison, you could see how useful SEO can be to a site.

Now there are two types of SEO. One is On-Page SEO and the other is Off-Page SEO. Both are important. The on-page seo is for how to prep the website internally like distribution of keywords in content, optimization of media, strategic use of tags, and many many more. While off-page seo is for promoting and increasing the traffic of your through external means like paid promotion, blog posting, guest commenting, etc.

Before starting, you should check which parts of your site need to be optimized. Cause in many cases it’s seen that we try to change things which are already at their optimal state but because we think everything is not optimized which change they which not result in loss of quality but also a waste of time. Plus there might be other hidden problems that you might have not noticed. For such a case, I think it’s best to look up your site’s current SEO stat and then think of a way to improve it. But how?

Let me help you with that by now you already ready to have a gist of what SEO is and what’s its purpose. But how do we measure our site’s current state? Well, that’s easy we just have a lookout for some key points and judge depending on them. Good thing some tools can help us to get this data and analyze them. So let’s learn about some of these key points.

Keyword performance on SERP

Keywords are referred to the terms that we use in the search engine to look for a site that fulfills our needs. And search engines rank us for them. But not all the ranks are the same.
The question is how do they know to rank which sites for which keyword. Well, that’s where our contents and meta-descriptions shine. When a search engine crawls our site, it thoroughly analyzes the contents and their placement and usage, depending on which they determine the main purpose of our site.
But that doesn’t mean that you would stuff your content with keywords. That might backfire on you. Cause search engines don’t only look for content with keywords they also look into whether it’s quality and meaningful content. So how would you know that it’s working?
Well, there are many third-party tools like

  • Semrush
  • Moz
  • Ubbersugest

and many more
But what I highly recommend is the webmaster tools. Not are they more accurate but also give an idea of the current trend as well.

Besides that, you can also look up which keywords are working and which are not. And update your content depending on it.

This is a well-known off-page seo technique and a quite effective one at that. Backlinks work like recommendations from external sites. What happens is when high ranking site recommends a site google shows interest in it which may result in improvement of your ranking on the SERP. It’s like a high-level official recommends the promotion of a low-level employee.
But that doesn’t mean all backlinks are equal. There are mainly two types of links nofollow links and dofollow links. Both are prioritized differently for search engines.
Dofollow links can affect your ranking. While nofollow links were controversial. At first, it was said that search engines don’t value them at all. But in recent years it’s been seen that many sites with nofollow links can rank high in search engines.
Well, to check your backlink status I would recommend tools like Ahref, Semrush, Ubersuggest, Google Analytics, etc.

Site traffic status

When optimizing or promoting your site you have to keep in mind that not all pages of a site will have the same result. To prove this if you were to look up a site’s traffic report or visitor’s visits on your pages you would see that not all pages have the same visitor popularity. This is more apparent on e-commerce sites when you need this data to check out which products are popular and which are not.
But other than this there’s another important point and that is how long a visitor stays. By analyzing the traffic you can determine the visitor’s activity and also judge which of your contents keep the attention of your visitor the most.
Now for this, I would highly recommend Google Analytics. But that’s just my humble opinion you can use other analytic tools as well such as Woorank, Buzsumo, Semrush, etc.

Site loading

A website’s load speed plays a very important role in the site performance rating. And that’s not an understatement. Imagine you were to go on a site and it takes 40-60 seconds to load and what’s worse it’s designed in such a way that until it’s fully loaded it’s can’t be used.
Not all people are known for their patience. So the longer the loading the more traffic you lose. And you can’t blame them cause would wait minutes after minutes just to scroll not even to download or process some to scroll the contents.
Don’t worry to find out the cause behind this slow loading various tools can help you such as

  • Pagespeed Insight
  • GTmetrix
  • Pingdom
  • etc.

Through these tools and tips might help you to measure your site’s SEO. The result lies with you and how you use this information. The good news is many of these tools will give you recommendations to help you fix your site’s problems. But remember SEO is an ongoing process so it’s not just after fixing these few things and improving your site’s seo score, you have to monetize your regularly so that it doesn’t lose its ranking
