How to turn a computer into a auto dialer by using Excel and Skype! Make 100's of calls with a click of the mouse!

Weekly activity report when I dialed the phone.

Weekly report using my computer to dial!

Take your calls to the next level!

For those of you who want to play office ball while making calls, I suggest a wireless USB headset microphone. I can be anywhere in the office while I am on the phone with a client. Some headsets allow you to hang up on Skype without having to be at your computer, amazing feature!

Why dialing your phone is going out of style!

On the left you can see two activity reports from August 2013 when I started using Skype. Comparing the two reports shows a big difference in the amount of success I had during the week. Now, we all know every week is different but, you cannot ignore the fact that I had 10x's the success using this system then I did without. You could make 1,000 calls and never set an appointment, that's life. I have had my ups and downs but after looking at 2 years worth the calls it wasn't surprising my best weeks were when I was using this strategy.

Volume of Calls! The fact is you drastically increase your chances of success over the phone when you make MORE CALLS!

Misdials! If you are making as many calls as me you know very well you aren't 100% accurate at hitting those numbers. Simply put Skype will not misdial and will save you time by not making mistakes!

Lots of Calls = Lots of practice! You only get better the more calls you make!

I have much more confidence on the phone now because I sound professional and I am less depressed about having to dial the phone numerous times. To me this is invaluable. Your attitude can be felt through the phone, If you are happy or sad they will know. Nobody will give you the time of day if you sound as if you are upset.

I admit when I dialed by hand I wasn't happy. In fact, we would use mirrors to watch ourselves making calls to make sure we had a smile on our face. Surprisingly enough many companies do this and it works! People actually sound happier when they are smiling. Something so simple yet affective. I will get to the point. You become a much happier person when an idea makes your life just a little easier and successful each day. This improves your interaction with people on every level, whether in the office or on the phone.

Everyone is different, I found sipping on some hot tea with my legs up on the desk or playing office basketball is a great way to pass the time while you dial effortlessly!

Thanks for stopping by!

If anyone needs more information, running into problems, or you have an improvement post a comment with an explanation and I will try to respond as quickly as possible. I have tried many programs most of which didn't work and none of them came close to being as efficient as this. I hope this information helps you become a happy and successful caller =) Thanks!

How Skype could save your office thousands!

The office I worked in had 9 phones costing $15 per phone to operate each month. That is $135 per month or $1,620 per year!

You must take in consideration that you are still dialing to use the phone which takes up much more time then having it dialed for you.

With Skype you pay $3 a month ( or less). The office phone costs are now lowered to $27 per month( 3*9=27) or $324 per year.

My office saved $1296 per year and we made more calls then ever achieved dialing by hand!

Its' a no brainer.

Cell phones and Skype

On Skype you can program your cell phone to show up when you call from your computer. You MUST do this. If you do not some number pops up randomly that is unable to be called. After you program your cell phone any call backs will go directly to your cell, so if you are away from your computer you can still pick up and work from anywhere!

Hello, think I figured it out. You can Save As "Web Page," to desktop, then rename the icon to ".html" open with Internet Explorer and see the blue lit phone numbers ready for speed dialing. Let me know if everyone gets this to work. Thanks!

Hi Justin. It's been some time since you posted this, but I will try anyway... I live in Sweden and have tried to find the referenceusa databases, but did not manage to. Are there any conditions that must be fulfilled in order to gain access to them?

Thanks for the post, I really appreciate it.

Doesn't Skype have a limit on the number of calls that can be made in a day?

Ryan on November 03, 2014:

Ok, I found an easy work around, actually two of them.

1) The first and the one i am using is for google voice instead of skype but is quick, easy, and free. I downloaded google voice and goole hang out plug ins to my computer. I simply copied all of the feilds from an excel spreadsheet and then pasted it in as the body of my email which i sent to myself. Open the email and click the phone numbers to call. The one draw back is that I must hang up a call before clicking he next and cant simply click through the list to move on. Still, it works.

2) I also found a fix for skype but chose not to use it because I already use a google voice number for business and because skype is no longer free although it is only $2.99 per month. Anyway, the fix is simple and works in an excel spreadsheet without even saving it as a webpage. first the phone numbers must be a pure number stream no spaces or other characters. Next, you must add callto:+1 in front of the numbers so that it looks like this: callto:+11234567890. Original phone number was (123)456-7890. Hope this helps.

yes, I am having the same issues . I am eager to see if you find a solution. I did find a skype toolbar that will do the trick; however, it has a Trojan attached.

Thank you very much for your timely response and any help you may be able to provide. I tried to use essentially the same model today, but using my google voice/ hang outs to make the calls instead and had the same problem. It picks up and calls numbers that are on web pages but not from my saved spread sheet

I have been really busy and hope I can come up with a solution. I am going to test my theory when I get time but the recent Skype update may be preventing it from reading the .csv in the webpage format. I was using Version when I made the video. When I updated my Skype I was unable to make calls. I had to uninstall Skype and reinstall the older version to get it to work the same way as it did before ( I did that before making the video so I know that worked) However, I tried logging on today and my account wont sign in because it was an older version :(. I will download the most up-to-date version and see if I can find a solution because I am pretty sure that's the reason why it's not working for either of you.

Ryan on October 28, 2014:

Please help,

I've attempted to follow your lead but its not working. I have been using ReferenceUSA for some time now. Downloading my results is not a problem although I must admit, I wish we could call directly from the database. Anyway, I saved the resulting csv file as a single page website as directed and then opened it with eager anticipation. No skype links, the phone numbers did not convert. I'm pretty sure I ok'd the phone number setting when installing skype but i am currently trying to find a way to acces and adjust my settings just in case. Do you have any other ideas? Thank you for your time and concrn.

I love this approach and plan on using it to be more productive. I installed the Skype "Click to Call" app successfully. Saved my excel doc that has phone numbers in the "Single file webpage" format as you explained. I had Skype open. But Click to Call didn't recognize my phone numbers and make them clickable links. Any ideas on what went wrong? The Click to Call links are appearing in my web browsers, but not on the excel file saved as a single file webpage. My numbers are all in the format (xxx) xxx-xxxx. Do you think that's the issue? Numbers in the exact same format work on web pages. I'm stumped and really want to start using this helpful tool. Thanks, T
