Step by step Solution for resolving the error Ms Office 2010 installation error. Is a very common and general error, there are lots of solutions which are mostly meaningless and time wasting. The fixes work in all versions 2010, 2007 and lower and on all systems.

MS Office Installation Error:

As Microsoft instruction for installing the MS Office never shutdown or turn off the system until the installation completed. Most of users care about this, and we know that Every Time Every Things are not Remain same...!!

So by accidentally or by mistake or due to some uncertainty during MS Office installation, our system gone to Shutdown or Turnoff ...Oooooh Shit... :(

Now we are stuck here... :( Believe me is really a hard moment, when you want to just open a MS Office file for confirmation some little thing... and MS Office give you that error again and again...with little tension and more headache in Bonus.. ;)

The first solution comes in our mind to delete the MS office folder that recently created (in C drive - Programs Files - MS Office) during MS office Installation....

And the second solution comes in our mind (we also afraid to do that one) to restore the previous state of Windows image (if we have) or install a fresh Operating System again...:(

These actions take too much time and also not a good solution.

There are also some other ways to solve that MS Office installation problem but sometime its works and many time we face again Installation problem.

Better Solution:

With Just only 10 easy steps, believe me these are really easiest way and Never Ever forget the last step.... ;)

  1. Open Start Menu or Run option
  2. Type "services.msc" (without apostrophe )
  3. Find a Service named Windows Management Instrumentation
  4. Right click on services & choose Stop option
  5. Again Right click on it and now choose Properties option
  6. From the General tab, change Startup Type to Manual
  7. Now Start the service again by clicking on Start button
  8. Restart the computer and log-in as Administrator account
  9. Execute the MS Office installation file (setup.exe) again... :)
  10. So, start the work with Smiling Face that looks Really G00d on your Cute Face ;)

Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI):

A short intro about WMI, Microsoft has released a new diagnosis tool that helps IT Administrators for diagnose and repair problems, such as application errors or scripts that used to work are no longer working.

Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) is the infrastructure for manage data and other operations on Windows-based operating systems. We can write WMI scripts or applications to automate Administrative tasks on remote computers but WMI also supplies management data to other parts of the OS, for example System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), formerly Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM), or Windows Remote Management (WinRM).

WMI can be used in all Windows-based applications, and is most useful in enterprise applications and administrative scripts.

WMI is designed for programmers who use C/C++, the Microsoft Visual Basic application, or a scripting language that has an engine on Windows and handles Microsoft ActiveX objects. While some familiarity with COM programming is helpful, C++ developers who are writing applications can find good examples for getting started at Creating a WMI Application Using C++.

For More Information about WMI, please follow the below link:

Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)

For Domain environment, I set the "Windows Management Instrumentation" service to start automatically in the default computer Policy - Computer Configuration - Windows Settings - Security Settings - System Services - Windows Management Instrumentation. I set this computer policy to ensure that WMI was running on all computers in the domain, so that I conduct a software / hardware record. What discovering is setting this policy breaks many application installations including MS Office 2010.

By disabling this policy & then opening a command prompt (cmd) on the affected machine, typing gpupdate /force command and rest the computer, logging as a domain administrator(s) or local administrator(s) account, HurRraaaaaa.....now install MS Office Pro Plus 2010 without any error.....!!

SO, if you are in a domain environment, my suggestion is to must update Group Policy Object (GPO) for the WMI service setting and Disable it, even temporarily.

Steps in Graphical Mode:

Is the human nature, some of easily understand and remember the things for long time after visually seen them. I also added some pix for Visual learning persons as I am too visual learner... ;)
