How to enable/disable JavaScript on the Droid Android phone

Knowing how to enable/disable JavaScript on your Droid phone can be a very useful trick. The Android web browser has JavaScript enabled by default but it can sometimes be disabled. JavaScript is required by many web sites and if not enabled, these web site will complain or not let you do important functions like check out your shopping cart. If you have inadvertently turned off JavaScript on your Droid, you can easily turn back on. On the other hand if you are browsing on some suspicious web sites, you can turn JavaScript off for additional safety.


Step 1

If your Android web browser is not already running, start it up by selecting the Browser app.


Step 2

Once the web browser is started, push the physical “Menu” button on the Droid.

This will bring up the web browser's options menu. Select on the “More” option.

The additional options panel for the web browser should now pop up. At the bottom of the screen you will find the browser settings options. Push “Settings” to change the browser preferences.


Step 5

There are many settings for the web browser in Android. You just need to scroll down until you find the “Enable JavaScript” option. If it is unchecked, then JavaScript is not running on the Android browser. Just select on the box to enable JavaScript. JavaScript should now work and you can go back to any complaining web site to make sure it works. If you ever want to turn off JavaScript, just repeat the procedure and un-check the “Enable JavaScript” box.
