In the above picture, there is a contact form that has already been created by default. You can use it or create a new one also.
If you want to use this default contact form, just copy the shortcode written next to contact form 1 and paste it to the page, post, or section where you want it to appear.
very simple! Isn't it?
How to use it
You can create a new form, by pressing the Add New button, or you can edit this form's name and functionality by clicking on it.
If you're a beginner with WordPress, then I would not recommend changing anything in the form.
To use this shortcode, let's copy it first.
Create a Contact Page
First of all, create a contact page for your website. To do so, click Pages > Add New and name the page. After this, press the Publish button.
After creating the page, head over to Appearance, and then click Menus. Now select the main menu and add the contact page into the menu.
Kindly make sure to hit the Save Menu button.
In this manner, the contact page will be added to the navigation menu from where anyone can click it and find the relevant contact information.
At this point, if you'd love to see your contact us page, you would notice that it has nothing to show right now.
To edit this page and paste that shortcode, let's open the contact us page from the dashboard. To open the page, select Pages > Contact Us.
Now all you have to do is copy the shortcode which is [contact-form-7 id="44" title="Contact form 1"] and paste it to the text area.
After this, press the Update button.
Now if you take a look at the front-end, you will see the contact form has been placed on your contact us page.
The contact page will look like this:
Check back-end functionality
Now if you check the back-end functionally of the form, head over to Contact > Contact Forms > Contact Form 1 or (what you name the contact form).
The very first tab is Form, in this section, you will see some coding has been written over there by default.
The next tab is Mail, in this tab confirm your email so that you can receive the queries to your inbox through this form.
In the Messages tab, all messages are already written here, you are in control if you want to change them.
You can add some additional features to your form (if you are a WordPress developer and have enough coding skills), in the Additional Functionality section.
By default, this plugin detects your email ID (if you added it to your website), and it's good to go. All you have to do is copy the shortcode and paste it where you want the contact form to appear. You do not need to change anything in the back-end setting.
In this tutorial, I have explained how to create a contact form in WordPress using the Contact Form 7 plugin.
Using this plugin, you do not need to write the any code, all you have to do is copy the shortcode and paste it.
Before I wrap up my words, I want to tell you that I am a WordPress developer and have been working with WordPress for 3 years now.
