How to Use Alignment Under Home Tab in Microsoft Excel?

Alignment, you can see the Alignment under Home Tab, and these functions are mostly used for data formatting under Excel files.

What is the Usage of Alignment?

Alignment under the Home Tab is used for data formatting in cell alignment is how your text or number are positions in the cell, we can change the text alignment as left align, center and right align apart from this we can text or number alignment towards top align, middle align & bottom align.

Alignment is a term used to describe how text is placed on the screen. For example, the left-aligned text creates a straight line of text on the left side of the page.

Suppose, You have row data and you want to align your data. Firstly, select your data or cells where you want to use this alignment function, Click on the Alignment ribbon under Home Tab and select alignment according to your requirement for example; "Top Align, Middle Align, Bottom Align, Left Align, Center Align, and Right Align."

What is the Usage of Orientation?

Orientation helps to rotate your text vertically or diagonally. It helps to reduce your column size, select the row and column where you want to use orientation. Go to Alignment under Home Tab and choose Orientation. Press button (Alt + H + M) for orientation.

Click on Orientation under Alignment Ribbon.

What is the Usage of Decrease intent?

Decrease intent is used to move your text of number closer to the left cell border, Decrease the indent by 1, or remove the indent completely. Although we can use this function for heading or subheading. We can use a short-cut key ( Alt + H + 5) to decrease intent.

What are the Usages of Increase intent?

Increase intent is used to move your text of number farther away to the left cell border, Increase the indent by 1 or more. We can use it for heading or subheading in the cell. You can use a short-cut key (Alt + H + 6) for increase intent.

In the below image, you can see the increased intent in column A.

What are the Usages of Wrap Text?

Wrap text helps to extend the extra-long text into multiple lines so we can see all of it.

Steps: Click on Wrap text under the alignment ribbon. You can use a short-cut key (Alt + H + W) for wrap text.

Notes:

If all wrapped text is not visible, it may be because the row is set to a specific height or that the text is in a range of cells that has been merged.

Data in the cell wraps to fit the column width, so if you change the column width, data wrapping adjusts automatically.

What are the Usages of Merger & center?

Merger and Center help to merge multiple nearly rows and columns into one longer cell. This is finished by choosing all cells to be merged and picking the “Merge Cells” order. Center means that it enables the alignment of text to be in the center.

Each option has different work in excel and you can use the following shortcut keys.

Merger & Center: Merger and center are used for merge row and column (Alt + H + M + C).

Merge Across: Merger and center are used for merge rows (Alt + H + M +A).

Merger Cells: Merger cells help to merge multiple rows and columns into one cell (Alt + H + M + M).

Unmerge Cells: Unmerge cells help to slipt the current cell into multiple cells (Alt + H + M + U).

Example;

Select rows and columns where you want to merge and click on merger and center under the alignment ribbon.
