Some of you might know the search engine operators already especially for Google, but most of you would end up forgetting them. You see, you go to Google & YouTube to search for answers simply because of a purpose.
With that, the solution to be a search expert in Google & YouTube is to apply the search operators based on purpose. How to do it? Read on below.

1. Find Your Search Purpose
Understand The Funnel Technique
A Funnel Technique is a method used to drill down a general topic into a specific one. It has 3 basic layers - Open Questions are general questions, Probe Questions are topic-specific questions, while Close Questions are questions answerable by Yes or No. What’s next?
Apply The Funnel Technique
In your subconscious mind, practice to funnel down what you’re looking for by questioning yourself & answering yourself to find the purpose of your internet research. From there, you’ll be able to consolidate the suited parameters to formulate your search operators. Here are some examples in the table below to illustrate further.
Now that you’ve got the idea of how to apply the Funnel Technique, I’ll show some examples of search operators below based on common purposes.
2. Choose Your Google Search Operators
Below show the basic Google search operators that can be used across most Google search operators.
If you’re looking to search for a phrase or a word meaning or synonym & antonym, then you may use below.
If want to know the answer of an equation or convert a unit, then you may use the below examples. No need to manually type in a calculator like Google’s Calculator.
If you’re looking for a book or tutorials, then you may use below.
If want to know a company’s stock market value, find a job, check flights, price canvas a product, or would like to know the current time of a specific place, then you may use below.
If you want to know the weather forecast, tide level of a place, sunrise or sunset, or search in the map a perfect casting place to fish, then you may use below.
If you’d like to know the calorie of food, then you may use below.
If you’re looking for a movie or events in a place, then you may use below.
If you forgot a complete website name or URL, or wondering if there are other website competitors out there, or looking for a specific word or phrase in a website, or just trying to figure out what website did you download an image from, then you may use below.
If you want to find out if there are other websites copying your copyrighted contents or images, then you may use below.
3. Choose Your YouTube Search Operators
For YouTube, every search operator will have to be separated with a comma (,). For example below.

If you want to search a videos’ title or description or tags, then you may use it below.
If you’re looking for the latest or oldest uploaded or updated videos, then you may use below.
If you want to download a Free-To-Use or purchase media, or a live HD video with subtitles, or a 360 or 3D or 4K videos, then you may use below.
If you’re looking for short or long videos or specify the length, then you may use below.
If you’re looking for a movie or paid shows, or a channel or playlist, then you may use below.
