Google Translate is a really useful piece of free software on the internet that can be used to translate foreign languages into your native language. So if you speak English and you come across something is written in Spanish, you can use it to translate the words from English to Spanish or Spanish to English if perhaps you need help with your homework.
But it does so much more and it's fun too - just look at what we found we could do with Google Translate and Google.
Fun with Google - Google Doodles
Don't you just love the way Google changes it's name to suit particular holidays or occasions, I love opening it up to do a search and finding something new. If you want to see all of the 'Google Doodles' so far you can go to:
Google and Pac-Man
One of the things I enjoyed that Google has done in past years was on the 30th anniversary of PAC-MAN and if you missed it here is a link to it:
Tilt Google
Another little Google search trick is to type the word 'tilt' or 'askew' in the search box and see what happens. Simple things I know but cute.
GOOGLE TRANSLATE
This afternoon I received an email from a friend telling me about a trick to do with Google Translate, I tried it and it worked and since then I've been finding out other things that are fun to do with Google Translate and I thought I'd pass them on for you to try out for yourself.
Bored? Need a bit of online fun? Not the naughty kind, just the funny kind then have a look at the things below that you can do with Google Translate.
1. Beatbox on Google Translate
This is the trick that my friend taught me and it is one of the most fun things that I've found on Google Translate. First copy and paste the following text that is in bold type (hold down the lefthand button on your mouse and drag it along the line until you get to the end, then press the Ctrl key and the 'C' button at the same time):
pv zk pv pv zk pv zk kz zk pv pv pv zk pv zk zk pzk pzk pvzkpvpvzk kkkkk bsch
Open Google Translate:
Click on the blue box on your screen and paste the bold text inside the box (press the Ctrl key and the 'V' button on your keyboard at the same time).
Further up the screen is the red word Translate and next to is a box that reads From: Detect Language, next to this is a little arrow that points downwards, click on this and choose the language German, do the same thing to the next box so that it now read Translate German to German.
On the right hand side of the screen is a small loudspeaker sign and as you hover over it what once said 'listen' it now says 'beatbox' so Google understand what we're all up to, press this button and you will hear Google Translate beatboxing - cool huh!

2. Techno Beatbox on Google Translate
If you want a more Techno sound on that little beatbox you just created then change the German to German, to read Chinese to Chinese - I just love the cool little noise at the end.

3. Sound Effects on Google Translate
Using the same method, copying and pasting
This: rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
and translating German to German will give you the sound of a machine/lawnmower.
This: vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
and translating English to Serbian will give you the sound of car that doesn't want to start and is about to die.
This: roflroflroflroflroflroflroflroflroflroflroflrofl
and translating English to Afrikans will give you a funny sounding helicopter
This: hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
and translating from Dutch to Czech will give you a lady laughing sarcastically and changing the second box containing Czech to Dutch will switch it to Czech to Dutch and she then gets in the Christmas spirit telling ho ho ho ho ho and then sort of chokes at the end. This had my daughter in fits of laughter.
This: pppppppppp, ppppppppppp,
ppppppppppGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
and translating from English to German will give you someone trying to start a car or a helicopter and finally succeeding.

4. James Bond on Google Translate
Try putting in the name James Bond and translating it from English into Chinese and it translates it into James Bond with a Chinese accent.

5. Johnny Depp gets a new acting role on Google Translate
Type this: Ich bin Johnny Depp
and translate from German to English and see what happens.
Weird huh!

6. Dutch showing their Chauvinistic Side
Type this: men are men and men do the cooking
Translate it from English to Dutch
Copy the Dutch translation and retranslate it back from Dutch to English
and see what happens!

7. Naughty Google Translate
Type this: anter
and translate from French to English - naughty little people at Google Translate.

8. Robots in Disguise
Translate this: Optimus Prime
from Latin into English - there are definitely some geeks in charge of Google Translate.

9. Google Translate doesn't like Chicken
Translate this: I love chickens
from Latin to English - oh the chickens will be sooo upset.

I looked for a number 10 for my list but couldn't find anything else worthy of being listed, of course you can keep changing the second language and see what each one does and it kept the kids and I amused for ages.
Hope you enjoy!

If you go on google translate and type lolololol, it will say "Translate from Lolololol". If you lcik on that, it gives you a "language" that is blank. I think it's just english, but it's a cool trick.
If it doesn't work, trp putting more lols in there.
