What Is the "HP EliteDesktop 800 G1 Small Form Factor" PC?

The HP EliteDesktop 800 G1 Small Form Factor is a desktop PC that you mainly use for office work, but it has been converted so it can be used as an entry-level, or budget gaming PC, by adding a 1050Ti 4 GB graphics card to it. It is mainly used as a desktop office PC.

It is a small form factor PC, which means it’s smaller than a standard size PC Desktop case, but you can still use DVD/blu-ray drives in it.

If You Just Want a PC to Do Simple Office Work, It’s Great!

I use this desktop PC to write all my articles and it runs very well. Micomp sells recycled PCs so it’s also a nice way to keep PCs from becoming eWaste and still getting a “new” to me PC for both my writing and some light gaming.

I use my desktop PC to surf the internet and write in Microsoft Word, do some video editing, and play some games.

For what I need, this PC has run great. I haven’t had a lot of problems with it. The machine runs very well, the hard disk drive that it came with is a little slow, but it’s still fine once I get to the desktop menu.

The PC runs fine, I do intend to eventually get an SSD for my PC, but for now, I’m upgrading my mechanical drive, but if you’re going to buy an HP EliteDesktop, make sure you get one with an SSD in it so you don’t have to buy one to upgrade it.

I don’t have any problem running my programs on my PC, but because I’m not using an SSD, my programs take longer to open.

This Desktop PC Has Limited Upgradeability

Since the HP EliteDesktop 800 G1 is a small form factor PC, you will have limited upgradeability if you want a high-end gaming PC, due to proprietary components for the PC for the power supply and motherboard.

If you want a full desktop that can be fully upgraded you might have to buy a pre-built or build your own gaming PC, but if you do buy the HP EliteDesktop 800 G1 you will have limited upgrade options when it comes to what you can do with graphics cards, motherboards, and CPUs.

You Can Do a Lot of Desktop Upgrades

Despite being limited when it comes to graphics card upgrades, you can still add a lot to this computer, but I would recommend buying the upgrades yourself rather than having HP do it for you.

You can upgrade the following:

  • The CPU
  • The GPU up to a point
  • The RAM
  • The hard disk drive
  • You can add a DVD/blu-ray player

The graphics card options are limited because your graphics card has t obe a low profile card due to the small form factor of the desktop PC case.

Overall, the desktop PC can be upgraded but there are limits when it comes to upgrading you are only limited by low profile graphics cards and the wattage for your power supply.

If you want an upgradable, full-fledged gaming PC you’ll have to buy a pre-built PC or build it yourself.

It’s Mainly an Office Desktop PC

HP EliteDesktop 800 G1 is primarily an office PC, I like using it for writing my reviews and articles, I have used my PC for two years and it’s run fine. I’ve used the PC to do some gaming on it, but mainly my writing.

I also use the desktop to browse the internet and it’s run fine. I have used this PC for a variety of tasks and it has performed very well. It might not be a high-end PC, but if you just want to do some office work or light video editing, this desktop PC will suit your needs just fine.

There are newer models of this desktop that have more features but it’s great if you’re on a budget and need a PC for work.

It’s not the best desktop PC you’ll own but it’s great if it fits in your budget range and you don’t care about heavy gaming.

It’s Great if You’re on a Budget, but Newer Models Have More Features

The HP EliteDesktop 800 G1 Small Form Factor Desktop PC is a great entry-level desktop PC, but since it’s such an old model, newer models have more features that come with the desktop PC, such as M.2 NVME drives and the ability to upgrade your PC even more than this model.

If you’re looking to have a current PC that you can upgrade with more advanced storage or networking, you’ll want to buy a newer model or build your own PC.

It’s an Excellent Budget PC for the Price Tag

Due to a chip shortage due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the price of desktop PCs has gone up, but because there are so many of these PCs made you can still buy the HP EliteDesktop 800 G1 Small Form Factor Desktop PC is still available for purchase, even if it’s a refurbished model.

I’ve gotten a lot of use out of mine and it’s lasted two years without any real problems when it comes to me running games and programs on my PC.

The fact that it’s easy to upgrade also helps me a lot since I plan to upgrade my PC very soon.

My Grade: A-

The HP EliteDesktop 800 G1 Small Form Factor Desktop PC is a great PC desktop if you need something for your office or if you want to do some light gaming. But you will need a low-profile graphics card to do light gaming because the built-in graphics aren’t the best.

Since the HP EliteDesktop 800 G1, Small Form Factor Desktop PC is primarily an office PC, I have been satisfied using it for writing my articles or browsing the internet.

It does its job very well, although I will be upgrading to an SSD hard drive soon because they run faster, it’s a nice budget option if you need a desktop PC, if you want to play games you’ll have to buy a separate graphics card for gaming, the built-in graphics won’t be able to render many games.

Still, if you just need a PC for office work, the HP EliteDesktop 800 G1 Small Form Factor Desktop PC is great and will meet most work needs, however, if you are getting a refurbished PC, you might want to make sure they have an SSD inside the PC.

My PC works great and I’ve had no problems with it, it’s not the best desktop PC that you’ll ever use, but if you mainly want an office PC, the HP EliteDesktop 800 G1 Small Form Factor Desktop PC is an excellent PC that you can use if you’re on a budget.

I love my PC, and despite being limited on my graphics card upgrades, I can still play a wide variety of games on it, thanks to me buying it with a 1050Ti installed in the desktop PC when I bought it.

I still use it a lot for my writing, and for that, the HP EliteDesktop 800 G1 Small Form Factor Desktop PC is fantastic. I have a great PC that was inexpensive for me to buy, I work and play on it all the time, it’s a great desktop that lets me do a lot.

I highly recommend the HP EliteDesktop 800 G1 Small Form Factor Desktop PC if you’re looking for a budget desktop PC. It’s an affordable option, and while it doesn’t have all the new features of the newest generation of HP office desktops, you will still get your money’s worth out of this desktop PC.
