14 Mysterious Numbers Stations That Will Haunt Your Thoughts

As an enthusiast in audio and video, Metromain had tinkered with said equipment for almost all of his life. Loves to build sound in cars.

Radio is fascinating. It's a simple form of wireless communicating, yet so reliable. And if the message is encrypted, ONLY the intended receiver can decode it. In comparison to the cellphone technology, where every cellphone is a traceable transceiver, one can't track a radio-receiver.

During the cold war then espionage was widely used, it is believed that there was short-wave radio stations that transmitted encrypted codes, called Numbers stations. Everyone with a radio could tune in a numbers station. But only the intended agent could understand the message.

Many stations are recorded and could be found for free on the internet, but exactly none are ever decoded to this day. Nobody knows what the message means, nobody knows who is behind them and nobody knows when they are going to stop (as they didn't stop after the cold war).
