ChaCha is the friend you can phone who has all the answers.

ChaCha is a mobile search service that answers any question you have, right from your cellular phone, absolutely free of charge.

All you have to do is text your question to 242242, which spells ChaCha on you keypad, or call 1-800-2ChaCha and ask away. ChaCha then answers your question in a matter of minutes, with the help of a ChaCha Guide who researches the question and sends you a text back with the answer.

ChaCha uses real people to answer any question you need an answer to, right when you need the answer. ChaCha gives a new meaning to the phrase, “I think I will phone a friend.”

These are just two of the instant question options that ChaCha currently offers, but more are on the way.

Record your questions and answers with ChaCha.

If you want a record of the questions that you have asked and those that have been answered by ChaCha, you can create a ChaCha account and register your mobile phone.

Simply visit and create an account and profile.

Every time you ask a question or get an answer ChaCha will save it to your account, where you will be able to view it later. You will also be given the information regarding the site your ChaCha Guide (who researched your question) used to find the answer. This allows you to further your studies on the question. You can see the profile of the ChaCha Guide who found your answer, as well.

ChaCha the answer is just a call away!

So, if you are simply one who is plagued by questions that never seem to have an answer, just ask away, with ChaCha there is never a stupid question.

My daughter Cha-Cha's everything. While we're out shopping she texts Cha-Cha to find out the store hours or the address for places. Her dad made some comment the other day about KISS holding some record for concert attendence. She Cha-cha'd it and found out dad was wrong. LOL It's really cool!

Thanks for the information on being a ChaCha guide. I think that texting ChaCha has made learning fun again! lol

In The Doghouse (author) from California on July 31, 2008:

Paulie Walnuts,

I bet you would be a perfect ChaCha guide... you might consider it again. Thanks for stopping by!

Jodi on July 31, 2008:

I'm a ChaCha guide and I LOVE IT! Besides getting the occasional crude question, it is a pretty fun gig. I do it at night when my babes are asleep, my husband is away, and I'm just dinking around on the computer or watching a movie. Definitely a good opportunity for SAHMs. You can click my URL to see the post I did on my blog about the guide aspect of it. It's so fun to use as a service though. I always use it when I am out and about and need store hours, addresses, random info, etc.

PaulieWalnuts from Chicago on July 30, 2008:

Amy Jane, Isaac Washington, the Love Boat bartender poured a mean "Bamama Mama" back in the day! I think he was mixing and moonlighting love potions on the side. Extra shots of rum, that'll work! Anyway, I was once interested in being one of those ChaCha people with the answers, so I called with a question to find out what an answer person would say if I asked, "What's the average response time for answering a question?" Thinking maybe I would freak if I couldn't cut the mustard and be unable to answer questions posed to me in time or at all. The answer guy text me with a reply. "It depends," he said, "need more specifics." Then I realized there was nothing to fear, but I never did apply as a ChaCha answer man.

In The Doghouse (author) from California on July 29, 2008:

It is fascinating how ChaCha has made learning fun again. Yes, it is true you do need to know how to text! lol

ChaCha is free as of right now. I was skeptical myself about that, but learned they make the money from advertisers some how. Only time will tell I suppose. For now ChaCha seems to have all the answers!

Junkster from Liverpool, UK on June 25, 2008:

I think they're triyng to do this here i nthe UK with those ridiculous 118 guys. dial 118 118 and ask it a question to get an answer that costs god knows what. or, just google it.

good to hear this ChaCha is free but like all startups it will probably begin charging later in life!

Cha, Cha, Cha! I never heard of this service! Thank you for telling me about it! It has such a catchy name, I am sure it will catch on fast. I feel like dancing. :-)

In The Doghouse (author) from California on June 24, 2008:

Hi Michelle!

I know when I heard about ChaCha myself, I thought of the dance also. One of my college age young friends came over last night and taught me about ChaCha. I loved it! Now we can really try to ChaCha! lol

In The Doghouse (author) from California on June 24, 2008:

Triplet Mom,

Wow, maybe I should have covered the angle of job opportunities...two ChaCha Guides have made comments. Perhaps that would be of interest in the future. I bet the questions are very interesting to say the least. Thanks for commenting on ChaCha!

Michelle Simtoco from Cebu, Philippines on June 24, 2008:

At first glance, I thought you were going to talk about a dance. LOL This is the first time I heard about it. Hmmm...interesting.

Triplet Mom from West Coast on June 24, 2008:

I work for ChaCha on the side and love it. Its not bank breaking money but it does help to buy gas (well maybe not for long). I agree it is a great service and I love the questions that I have to answer!! Great Hub!!

In The Doghouse (author) from California on June 24, 2008:

Thanks for the info about ChaCha... It is true, you get a real person then right? lol I imagine that it is a protection for the ChaCha guide not to be plagued by the same caller all day! No hitting on the ChaCha guide that is for sure! lol

whitneyawhite from Northern Idaho on June 24, 2008:

I "work" for cha cha once in a while. I started when I thought I was going to be able to take the summer off from my normal job, but then it didn't work out. I still log on every now and then. Make sure to keep in mind that if you text back about your answer, you won't get the same person. You can't have a converstation with the Cha cha person for that very reason. lol.

In The Doghouse (author) from California on June 24, 2008:

Yes, ChaCha is free! I couldn't believe that fact myself, but ChaCha is free to all users! We played around last night and asked them all kinds of things...ChaCha has the answers! Try it and let me know what you think.

In The Doghouse (author) from California on June 24, 2008:

This was totally new information to me so I thought I would share. One of my friends came by last night and informed me of ChaCha... wow! ChaCha had all the answers! lol

In The Doghouse (author) from California on June 24, 2008:

ChaCha can truly be a lifesaver can't it? Although Google is so available on the computer, ChaCha can be as simple as a phone call or text message. This new service is a wonderful way to be reminded of anything that "swiss cheese" has forgotten. lol Got questions, ask ChaCha! lol Forgot the answer, ask ChaCha! lol

In The Doghouse (author) from California on June 24, 2008:

ChaCha is a niche isn't it? I think that they have thought of all the answers! lol No pun intended!

In The Doghouse (author) from California on June 24, 2008:

Questions like you asked in your fun college years are now easy to find an answer to with ChaCha. It is really the same concept as you have described. ChaCha is manned by real people who instantly search out the answers to any question you might have. So try it, do the ChaCha!

In The Doghouse (author) from California on June 24, 2008:

I haven't known for this very useful service, at all. It is truly so very useful. So many times, when I am not close to the Google I am struggling by seeking a missing information in my mind. More I want to remember, more my memory behaves as a Swiss cheese with big holes): I liked the short video about the ChaCha Answer service, as well.

Rob Jundt from Midwest USA on June 24, 2008:

Brilliant way to fill a needed niche. Thanks for the info.

amy jane from Connecticut on June 24, 2008:

Back in the pre-internet days I was visiting a friend at college and we could not remember the name of the Bartender on the Love Boat (already an old show). My friend picked up the phone and got an immediate answer. Finally! His college had an "answers line" manned by students who seemed to know it all. I loved the idea and am so happy to hear that someone is finally doing this again! ChaCha sounds great and you never know when you are going to need it!
