While there’s no guaranteed way to make money blogging, it’s still one of the best ways to grow your business and find new customers. In fact, over 40% of small businesses say they use blogging as an integral part of their marketing strategy, while 44% report using blogging to get more online exposure. If you aren’t taking advantage of blogging yet, here are eight ways it can help your business grow and thrive, whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been at it for years.
1) Get Found by Search Engines
You can’t make money if people can’t find your site. When you blog, you are essentially creating new content for Google to index. The more content you create, the higher the chance your site will show up in search results. And, the higher your site ranks in search results, the more traffic you’ll get to your site. More Traffic = More Money: People click on search engine results before they do anything else and when they land on your site, that's when they decide whether or not to stay there. Whether it's a post about a product they were looking for or an informative piece of advice, blogging will help keep them engaged with your business.
If you want to grow your business using blogging as a tactic, then be sure to provide quality content and avoid spamming techniques like keyword stuffing. Remember to use social media sites like Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and Twitter as another avenue to promote what you're doing online by sharing blog posts with followers. Another great way to share your latest blogs is by signing up for a website that automatically shares your posts through RSS feeds (Google Reader).
In short, don't neglect the power of these free tools! Posting blogs is relatively easy, but generating high-quality posts that people want to read is harder than it seems. These are just some of the tactics I've found work well when trying to maximize my blog's potential for growth. What other ways have you found success with?
2) Create an Active Online Presence
A big part of blogging is creating an active online presence. This can be done in several ways, such as by leaving comments on other blogs, guest posting, or participating in online forums. By doing this, you’ll be able to reach a wider audience and get your name out there. Plus, you’ll be able to build relationships with other bloggers and thought leaders in your industry. The more these people know about you, the more likely they are to share what you have to say with their followers, which will help bring in new business. And that's just the beginning! With time and persistence, blogging can help grow your business in so many ways .
3) Establish Credibility
When you become a thought leader in your industry, you’ll earn the trust of potential customers. And since 92% of consumers say they would rather buy from a credible source than an unknown one, it’s important to establish yourself as an expert in your field. You can do this by writing blog posts that showcase your knowledge and share your insights on the latest trends.
Write a series of posts that answer questions your audience has. Make sure to use keywords they’ll be searching for, and you can make it easier on yourself by using a keyword tool like Google’s Keyword Planner. Also, remember to include in-depth links to other resources that contain further information. That way, people who want more information about a topic can find more content right away without having to search elsewhere. The effort you put into each post will help build credibility with prospective customers and foster loyalty with existing ones.
4) Gain Organic Traffic
The first way blogging can help your business is by gaining organic traffic. This is traffic that finds your site without you having to pay for it. When you blog, you are essentially creating free content that people can find when they search for topics related to your industry. The more blog posts you have, the greater the chance people will find your site and become customers.
You also get higher rankings on Google and Bing when someone searches for a topic related to your industry. Other benefits of blogging include: increased conversion rates, improved customer service ratings, increased leads/sales opportunities, increased social media followers/following and improved SEO (search engine optimization). This is important because it helps grow your reputation as an expert in your industry, which can make you more money in a variety of ways.
One way is through affiliate marketing, where you earn a commission on products sold through referrals. For example, let’s say you run a foodie website and want to make some extra cash. You could sign up with a company like Amazon's Associates program and add links on your site for them. If someone clicks the link and buys something from Amazon, you'll receive a percentage of the sale price!
Another way blogging can help increase your income is through advertising revenue. There are many different platforms out there like Google Adsense or Mediavine that will allow you to place ads on your site if they generate enough page views per month. The amount you make off of these types of ads is based on the number of impressions you receive. So if your blog gets 100,000 visitors each month, then you would be able to make $1,000 off this type of ad placement.
5) Enhance Authority in Your Niche
When you become known as an expert in your field, people are more likely to want to do business with you. By blogging about topics related to your industry, you can share your knowledge and expertise with a wider audience, which can help build trust and authority. The content you produce also helps make your site search engine friendly. As an added bonus, it's easier for prospective customers to find information they need on the web these days, so having a blog that features useful resources is another great way to keep up with the competition.
If you write about a topic that people need help with, blogging also gives you an opportunity to show your expertise and offer advice. For example, if you’re running a plumbing business, creating content on how to fix common problems can show customers that you know what you’re talking about and make them feel more comfortable doing business with you. You may even be able to charge higher rates because of your level of expertise.
In addition, blogs provide a direct line of communication with potential customers who are looking for information. If someone has a question about your product or service but can't get through by phone or email, they might try reaching out through social media channels like Twitter or Facebook and ask you directly through your blog instead!
6) Be Seen as an Expert
When you become known as an expert in your industry, people are more likely to trust you and do business with you. A blog is a great platform to showcase your knowledge and help position yourself as an expert in your field. Your website will also show up higher on search engine results pages if it contains a blog post or two.
Before getting started on the basics of blogging, make sure that your website has been optimized for search engines like Google and Bing. That way when people type keywords related to your products or services into the search bar, they will find you! It’s important to keep track of what you write about and create categories so that your blog posts are easy to find. You should have a tagline at the end of each post so that readers know what it’s about before clicking through to read.
Using appropriate images can be a very effective way to make your content easier to understand and engaging. If you don't have photos on hand, you can use stock images from sites like Adobe Stock Photo, BigStockPhoto, Shutterstock or Unsplash which are available under Creative Commons licensing terms. The most popular time to publish blog posts is generally during the morning hours (a few hours after waking) because this is when your followers may be checking their social media accounts first thing in the morning.
You can easily connect your social media profiles to your posts by using social sharing buttons in a box on either side of your text. If you don’t have enough time to post as often as you would like, it’s still important to publish content regularly and engage with your audience. Aim for posting between 1-3 times per week.
7) Build Relationships
When you blog, you have the opportunity to build relationships with your readers. You can connect with them on a personal level and let them get to know you as a business owner. When they feel like they know and trust you, they're more likely to do business with you.
Keep an Eye Out for New Trends: As a blogger, you'll constantly be searching for new trends in your industry. If you notice something happening or some new developments taking place, that's an opportunity for you to provide value to your readers by sharing it with them! Connect With Other Influencers: Whether it's through commenting on their blogs or inviting them onto yours, blogging allows you to form connections with other influencers in your field. That way, when someone has a question about what you do or who needs help, they'll come to you first because of your reputation among peers.
Generate Leads: It may sound counterintuitive, but blogging actually provides one of the best ways to generate leads. Not only will people subscribe to your blog if they find it valuable, but they'll also sign up for your email list in order to receive notifications whenever you publish a new post. Plus, those backlinks will make sure you rank high in search engine results so even more people find your content. The key is making sure that your posts are informative, entertaining, or both-the combination of these factors will keep readers coming back time and time again.
8) Write a Call To Action (CTA)
A well-written call to action can be the difference between a successful blog post and an unsuccessful one. By including a call to action, you give your readers a specific task to do after they finish reading your post. This could be anything from signing up for your email list to following you on social media. It doesn't matter what it is as long as it relates to the subject of your post. What does matter is that you provide them with clear instructions of what needs to happen next. Don't assume that your readers will just know what you want them to do because chances are they won't. You might have something in mind but don't assume everyone else does too.
You may not always have time to include a detailed call to action so when possible keep it simple. Write down two or three things that are easy for people to do right away without any further information needed. Make sure that at least one of these tasks is related to the content of your post. For example, if you're blogging about how important it is to include protein in your diet then make sure there's a way for people to sign up for a free nutrition ebook (or other relevant offer).
If you mention a book or podcast in your post then provide links to both of those items. These are all very simple ways to show your readers that you care about their success and are willing to help them reach their goals. The more effort you put into encouraging others, the more likely they'll be interested in doing the same for you.
